With A Little Help From My Friends Lyrics

Performed by The Beatles
Review The Song (97)

What would you do if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm,I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends.

Do you need anybody?
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody?
I want somebody to love.

What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you're on your own)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, gonna to try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody?
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody?
I want somebody to love.

Would you believe in a love at first sight?
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light?
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,
Oh, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody?
I just need someone to love.
Could it be anybody?
I want somebody to love

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Ooh, I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
with a little help from my friends

Epic Era with the Beatles | Reviewer: LEHernandez | 2/18/12

The Fab four were such an impact however one looks at it. Whether drugs, sex or anti war messages, this group struck the music scene with such force that even the elderly noticed the sound waves. Of course we all have different views as well opinions on just about everything that happened in our time. One thing is certain, we cannot ignore the fact that The Beatles will always be known no matter how much some folks try otherwise. Cheers!

This is a great song...one of the classics..but then what song by them isn't? Here is the thing, the only people who are having problems with this song and others are stuck in the mud 80's BAPTISTS
. Nobody cares about drug references or backmasking except for these losers who have nothing better to do with their time. GET A LIFE AND STOP BEING THE WASTE OF SPACE AND AIR THAT YOU ARE NOW.

this is the best song i've ever heard. Paul hit a grandslam, scored a touchdown and hit a buzzer beating 3. Ringo sang better than he ever has before or since. I love the lyrics so much. It's a great telling of a rockstar's life. It really is. Thank you for being born Fab Four. You changed my life and this song is the greatest ever written and performed. Makes sense it would be on an album this epicly masterful

lucy in the sky with diamonds is not a drug song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/31/11

if you look at the lyrics you would see its a love song of sorts, secondly Johns son Julian drew a picture of a maid flying in the sky, when John asked his son what it was he replied its Lucy in the sky with diamonds, hence the name of the song. with a little help from my friends isnt that trippy either although he does say " I get high with a little help from my friends" referencing pot.

Love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/27/11

I actually LOVE The Beatles!! This song I believe was written slightly influenced by drugs, but that was the 60s. Check out Lucy if you think this was strongly influenced by drugs is all I have to say!! "Celophane flowers of yellow and green.." try say that wasn't drug influenced!! Haha!!!!

Everything they ever said or sang has been dissected to the nth degree, looking for hidden messages! Just listen to the MUSIC that is the MESSAGE! And never forget "Reality leaves a lot to the imagination"!

i think this song is awesome, and that's about it. and yes, this song must has something to do with drugs; hence the verse "i get high with a little help from my friends." but others than that, fuck off you guys. any different way you interpret this song, it's still the best. the beatles kick ass. :P

Okay | Reviewer: Anon | 7/26/10

Yes, the song is about friends. Yes, it's probably about drugs too. Songs are about interpretation, and not one single person in this debate has any clue what the Beatles were actually thinking when they wrote this one. Jesus christ...

Great! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/20/10

i love this song do much. it has so many true messages in it. the only thing is i have done research on it, and to the people saying he mentions drugs in this song, he was referring to a natural high, which means being happy.

Do you need anybody? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/7/10

I'm sorry that I am the one who is writing this; however those commentators who are saying that we need to let go of the Beatles and stop being "ignorant pompass"... you are obviously the one who needs a reality check. Beatles are about peace, love, and fun! this song is great, no matter what decade you are in! In addition, I know what good music is, and if you don't like it don't bother us who do.

to all who dispise the beatles, esp. Anonymous | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/4/10

Look you lowlife losers!!!! STOP HATING ON THE BEATLES!!! seriously get a life. you don't know good music, so shut up and hold your little "opinnioins" (which are worthless by the way) to your self. no one cares. oh by the way, look for a deeper maning to the songs, "i get high with a little help from my friends" doesn't necisarily have to mean pot. its called metaphors you ignorant pompas. use them.

First song I loved.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/5/10

Heard it while I was watching Sgt. Peppers lonely hearts club band.. and watching Peter Frampton sang this song.. I fell in love with it. To this day I am reminded of how I loved my childhood.
It is about friends.. whatever the rumors and or truth about the drug content of these lyrics.. i don't care.. i have loved this song... and the beatles are great for composing and producing such good music!! :) Much Love. :)

Ringo was brilliant in this song.
When I sang this at school everyone laughed when I said the word "high". It was very embarassing.
"Billlllllllyyyyyyy Sheaaaaaaarrrrrrrrsssssss!"
--> sometimes misheard as "give me cheese".

eh...? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/1/10

well, damn people, it's a song... and true, there are many drug references in the beatles' songs, but look at the song as a whole, it's not about getting high, it's about getting high WITH YOUR FRIENDS... and cassie crabbe, true, PARTS of the movie are set in britain, but the majority is in the US. and the reason they talk so much about the beatles is prolly 'cause the only music used is by the beatles, so that kind of has to influence the movie in a heavy way...

WTF? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/12/10

I've got an idea how about instead of fighting over who knows more about the beatles how about you enjoy there music like it was intended to, music should never be put under the microscope because every single person will feel a different feeling towards one song and all of them are the right feelings so stfu and enjoy the utter brilliance of the beatles
