The Woman With The Tattooed Hands Lyrics - Atmosphere
Review The Song (10)
I used to know this woman who had the most beautiful
tattoos on the top sides of both of her hands
she was forty three years old and as far as I know
had never yet been with a man
its not that she wasn't attractive she was beatiful
but its the way that she interacted
she was aggressively passive to the point where she
would of intimidated any mitt that ever tried to catch her
on the right hand she had a tattoo of a nude girl
she claimed it is what God resembled
but on the left she had a mirrored image of the same female
and this one she explained looked like the devil
I remember once watching her touch her own breasts
how the tattoos smiled as they stared down her stomach
as if anticipating would they be allowed to caress
the sweet flower that they both seemed to hunger (sweet flower)
now maybe I was high but it felt so right
heaven and hell both take to this womans womb
it didn't make sense how she could commence
touching herself with me wide awake in the same room
now if I've learned anything in my years (my years)
I learned I no longer believe in surprise (in surprise)
but what happened next damn near stole my tears
the tattoos came alive right in front of my eyes
they both slowly stood up and climbed off her hands
and showed me why she never took some time with a man
they climbed deep inside of this woman's garden
she closed her eyes and she gently bit her bottom lip
I stepped I left and I don't regret leaving
and I'll never forget all the things I saw that evening
a glimpse of religion a piece of coming closer
to understanding more about what intrigues me most
I didn't get turned on I just got turned
I wasn't as aroused as I was concerned
for each one of em I've hurt
and every time I've been burned
I've got a lot to teach but even more to learn
so now I keep my eyes open hoping to take in all I can
about Woman taking in all she can
and for as long as I breath i'll save a seat in my memory
for that woman with the tattooed hands
[chorus: repeat 5x till song fades]
There's good and evil in each individual fire
identifies needs and feeds our desires
as long as we keep our spirit inspired
she can bite her bottom lip all she wants

Everything is everything. | Reviewer: C8 | 11/4/10
First song by Slug I ever heard and it made me a believer... In hip hop anyway, the rest is just details.
It's love. It's love. Love is what feeds our needs and identifies desires. Love is not an emotion, rather a vehicle for the honest emotions we hide in regular life. God and the devil, yin and yang. It's not a question of good or evil, rather what complements a whole piece to make another whole. In love there is no such thing as good or bad. Nothing makes anything good or bad, it just is.
Appreciation | Reviewer: Tyler | 6/20/10
I think its about relationships and being able to acknowledge the good and evil in everyone and accept that as who they are. I think the sexual parts of the song were for the sexual parts of a relationship and he seemed to view her sacredly, and i think he wants to translate that to the sacredness of the sexual aspects of relationships. But overall i think its about the appreciation of other people. Because he says he was concerned for each one of them he's burned and each one that has hurt him but he is now keeping his eyes open and taking in all they have to give him (Them in this scenario are the women he has had relationships with)
The Meaning to this song from my perspective. | Reviewer: Sean | 5/13/10
The tattoos represent people or groups. He points out that even though both tattoos represent the 'best' people and the 'worst' people, they are identical. Even if you see a humanist feeding starving children in India, then you see a cutthroat murdering for thrill, deep down inside everyone is the same. Everyone feels the same, everyone experiences everything the same, we all want the same thing (he is concerned when he learns this, thus: "I wasn't as aroused as I was concerned") but we all think different.
However, this song is not all negative. All people, at core, are beautiful, no matter what. Everyone has good and evil in them, no matter who anyone is. We all subconsciously strive to achieve our desires. As long as we celebrate our worldly desires, no matter how hard we try to keep ourselves pure (of greed, jealousy, want), we will always find ourselves begging for more time and time again.
religion! | Reviewer: Shela | 3/17/10
My view is that this song is totally based on how Slug sees religion.I think he is saying he sees god in the most scientific things, like sex. Reproducing, both god and the devil make up everything on this earth like this womans garden. Everything needs to be made some how and in this song good and evil are working together to make something beautiful and disgusting. Her womb is like the earth. there are some repulsive creepers and some pure good hearted people. but we all live together to make up where we live and we need to the good and the bad people or we wouldn't have the knowlage, experiance, or views that we are sharing. i don't really know how to explain it, but i tried.:)
meaning? | Reviewer: bukse | 2/7/10
This is a great fucking song, but I'm having a hard time understanding the meaning.
I like Ree's theory about the Woman being raped, but I think something else, I'm not sure why though.
I think the woman was circumcized, it's probably wrong, but whatever, that's what I think and I can think whatever I want.
I think this because he says "I didn't get turned on, I just got turned", so I think he saw her vagina (He says something about her garden) and saw that she was circumcized and obviously that doesn't turn you on or whatever. I also think he says something about religion, and curcumcition usually has something to do with religion. She hasn't been with a man because of the circumzition and the tattoos represent her pain.
That's what I think, you can have your own perception, but you guys see what I mean, right?
What it means | Reviewer: Ree | 1/27/10
I absolutely love this song. It brought me to tears the first time i heard it. It was actually one of the first atmosphere songs i heard and i have been a fan ever since.
I love lyrics to songs and i have thought about these lyrics for a long time. I think the woman was raped when she was young, thats why she never takes time with a man.
Then he talks about good and evil and how everyone has good and evil, she got those tattoos because even though the man who raped her was evil she still believes there was good in him.
This song is about how everyone has good and bad in them and how we need to learn and forgive. He says he thought of each on he hurt.. meaning all the girls he has hurt in the past and it made him think. It's about relationships in general and how we need to give and take.
I could go on forever. This song is amazing
not sure about the chorus | Reviewer: audioinklined | 6/23/09
The song is ill for sure. And the lyricist is ill, deuce.
But who ever keeps putting up lyrics on different sites needs to get them right because im not convinced that the chorus is correct, I think its different.
There's good and evil in each individual side
Identifies needs and feeds our desires
As long as we keep our spirits inspiried, she can bite her bottom lip all she wants."
And word to Slug for writing the song. I think this song can definitely make a fan, from a first time listener.

The Meaning to this song from my perspective. | Reviewer: David saidi | 1/15/08
I interperate the tattoos on the woman's hands to represent the woman herself. The tattoos are a mirror metaphorically in the sense that she is the god which each tattoo represents. This is how she sees herself at the subconcious or possibly concious level. Slug is saying there is nothing wrong with this as long as she keeps inspired and stays beautiful where it matters, her soul, heart.
Outfuckingstanding! | Reviewer: EJ | 6/16/07
Slug is a great lyricist. He writes about what so many can't deal with: real life!
