The Doors THE GHOST SONG Lyrics

Last updated: 11/21/2012 10:16:29 AM

Shake dreams from your hair
my pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
the day's divinity
First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach and cooled jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.

Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
the time has come again
choose now, they croon
beneath the moon
beside an ancient lake

Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream
Come with us
everything is broken up and dances.

Indians scattered,
On dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child’s,
Fragile eggshell mind

We have assembled inside,
This ancient and insane theater
To propagate our lust for life,
And flee the swarming wisdom of the streets.

The barns have stormed
The windows kept,
And only one of all the rest
To dance and save us
From the divine mockery of words,
Music inflames temperament.

Ooh great creator of being
Grant us one more hour,
To perform our art
And perfect our lives.

We need great golden copulations,

When the true kings murderers
Are allowed to roam free,
A thousand magicians arise in the land
Where are the feast we are promised?

One more thing

Thank you oh lord
For the white blind light
Thank you oh lord
For the white blind light

A city rises from the sea
I had a splitting headache
From which the future's made

Choose they croon | Reviewer: Liz | 11/21/12

Amazing Poetic wisdom in "Ghost Song". Jim Morrison mentions the "ancient ones" referring to Native Americans. Their spirits urge us "to choose". Choose the day, the days divinity. Will we choose Blessings or curses?

Immortal Legacy!!! | Reviewer: Anthony Gomez | 3/21/12

Arguably the greatest Rockstar and the greatest American poet... We are unfortunately to have lost him at such a young age. But perhaps we either die young as a 'HERO', or live enough to see ourselves becoming the 'VILLAIN'....something which is correctly said by Jim as- "Before I sink into the big sleep, I want to hear the scream of the butterflies!!!"

love it | Reviewer: Amy | 9/14/11

Thank you O' Lord, for the white blind light...I want it written on my grave. I think Jim had much to contribute to poetry AND music , and 40 years after his death he is still as enigmatic and loved as he was in 1968--maybe even more so. After all, people can hate Jim, but the millions that visit his grave every year speaks volumes for his creativity and celebrity. So who cares about Justin Beiber. That kid will be a chubby has-been in 5 years addicted to dope. Jim will live forever.

"wat the hell is wrong wid you guyz"... really? | Reviewer: tracy | 6/11/11

amy... learn how to spell and then i'll consider taking your opinion seriously. and if you don't like it, go listen to fergie or justin bieber or whatever kind of horse-shit you probably put in your ears on a regular basis. slander against pure creativity is for infantile "losers" who have nothing better to do with their time than to criticize what they don't understand. with that said, jim was and is a creature of mystery and a beautiful contributor to poetry and music. he was also sexy as hell.

Compulsive Dreamer | Reviewer: Melany | 3/16/11

Jim Morrison is a brilliant rebel, a compulsive dreamer who was to provide the artistic soul behind one of the greatest rock bands of all time, The Doors. Jim Morrison was a fiercely intelligent man haunted by a dilike of authority and taste for chaos. Morrison's amazing lyric-writing talent combined with dark good looks. quickly propelled The Doors to stardom.

in other words, Jim Morrison is Fuckin amazing !!

I agree. | Reviewer: Kate | 9/14/08

Morrison is 100% genuine, and you can see his ability to choose his words so precisely it fits into each sentence like a piece of a puzzle. It comes together so beautifully.
