I remember when I was in kindergarten, my sister would sit me on her lap and let me steer the truck down the road from the bus stop. And now more recently Daddy's letting me drive the boat out on the river. It really is irreplaceable, when somebody lets you drive. Everytime I hear this song I have to smile and sing along because it brings back so many good times.

When this song first came out, everytime I would hear it it would make me smile remembering my Dad letting me drive the boat, tractor, and his truck. Now that my Dad is now longer with us... it makes me cry. But only from missing him and the wonderful times we had together. Time can seem to go on for forever, but then one day you realize it was all to short of a time.

This is in answer to the comment by Chris. How can anyone with a speck of decency dis this song. It is beautiful and from the heart. It so moved me that on the first anniversary of the towers I stood up in church (after clearing it with our priest) and sang the song acapello (sp?)or without music. There were not many dry eyes in the house. Ten years later, I sang it last night at a Karaoke bar and got a standing ovation. It is a beautiful, patriotic song from deep within the heart that captured the hearts and minds of true Americans everywhere, not perverted minds who look for the evil and bad in even the most heart wrenching situations. As far as the comments on Iraq and Iran, despite all the coverage on those two countries, how many of us could actually sit down and draw Iraq and Iran on a map. God Bless Alan Jackson and Tobby Keith as well!

the song reminds me of what I am currently going through with my business. I am the owner of an employment service and my former Insurance Company of my workers compensation policy has been a struggle for many years. I am currently working with the Department of Insurance and the Department of Labor and soon filing a court motion against my former Workers' Compensation Insurance Company so they can't shut me down. because they can hurt the "Little Man" without realizing they are hurting the "Little Man". I have a perponderance of evidence against them and I am going to do everything it takes to save my business, so they can't shut me down with their so called "big" money. They are greedy and want more money. Without the documentation through out the years I wouldn't be able to proceed with the Department Insurance and the Labor Department. By the time I get through with them, they will NEVER be able to do this to any other small business owner (The Little Man) again.

I remember when 9/11 happened, and it still hurts to this day. This song was beautiful and reflected the emotions of that day and the aftermath. As long as we use religion to degrade, force, and harm others, we will have tragedies like this. Off my soapbox now, sorry.

Nice music, a good production... Alan Jackson is a great voice and a super star... No complaints .. the only comment is the message the words of the song send! It is nice to think "we are all God's Children" however this is Bibically and Theologicaly inacurate.... The truth is WE ARE ALL GOD'S CREATION... but not ALL God's Children...
The message of the song is totaly incorrect...

This song speaks to every one that hears it that has ever had death of a loved one. You best freind, mother, father, or even just he neighbor. They all have places in our hearts. And for the few that capture our hearts and fill them with the truest form of joy or love. When they perrish it is a heavey loss. This song helped me come to terms with the loss of my Great Uncle frank who Died years ago. I loved him so much. He was my DAD. And i know, but he was not the one who gave you life. and you would be right he wasn't. Any one can be a father, but it takes some one truly special to be a DAD. He raised me taught me what i needed to know and helped me realize my goals in life. This song is so deep. simplistic notes and slow beat make the song even more meaningful. The lyrics are perfect and I would have not expected any less of Allen Jackson. I just hope that other can see the true perfection that is this song as clearly as those who have felt the kind of loss this song describes. No flaws to be found and an enlightening view of how others feel are what made this song get a perfect score in my book.

My brother lost his 6 year battle with cancer a month and a half ago. After he passed I listen to this song over and over and over again. It fits him to a tee. I thank you Alan Jackson for a great song that has touch many hearts. I love and miss you Jason and always will.

On February 23, 2009 I had my best friend that was dignosed with spindle sarcoma cancer pass away at the age of 14. I never thought that some thing this horrable could happen to someone my age. She wasnt an only child she had two little sisters and it was hard for every one she was a great friend and she passed away 1 week and 3 days after her birthday. She had just turned 14. She will never be forgotten and we will miss her so much. This song reminds me of Courtney Beacause she never wanted us to think of her she wanted us to think about her sisters and mom and dad. She is still in my heart today we will miss you Courtney. 02.11.95-02.23.09
