------ About the song Drive performed by Incubus
it's about drinking and making the choice to not drink and drive. It's about choices really, but it's mentioning the one about whether or not to drink and drive 'choosing water over wine' and like giving up the chance to party with everyone else and decide to stay clean so that he can drive safely. YOu make choices in your life that effect you, but ultimately its your choice, and you need to be able to feel good about it at the end of the day, so make good choices.

------ About the song Agoraphobia performed by Incubus
First off to understand something we have to know what the word means Agoraphobia -is a condition where the sufferer becomes anxious in environments that are unfamiliar or where he or she perceives that they have little control"- I personally think its the last part that is what the song is about "or where he or she perceives that they have little control". Something is going on behind the scenes that we don't know about that is going to change a lot of things in our life time that just may take a way something we all LOVE - MUSIC-

------ About the song Aqueous Transmission performed by Incubus
Love this song. it's so calm and it's one of those songs that I can never tire of.
by the way, the instrument used in this song is called a pipa - it's Chinese. the one used in this song actually belongs to Steve Vai; he lent it to the band for this song.

------ About the song I Miss You performed by Incubus
I have been a fan of Incubus for a long time now. This is a great song and clearly has so much meaning to so many people. My relative passed away recently and this song was played at his funeral. It is such a touching song and I couldnt believe it when it suddenly started playing- my emotions got the better of me as we all said our good byes for his journey in to the next life. His warm and generous spirit will live on inside the many lives that he touched in his short life. Remember to tell the ones you love that you love them everyday. In memory of Oliver X

------ About the song Dig performed by Incubus
This might be perceived by many as a love song (yes it is), but upon deeper "digging" the two key elements of the song are Forgiveness & Compassion.
This song teaches us the importance of forgiveness and compassion in their strictest sense. That no matter what happens, for whatever it is that covers up our real selves (or what we used to be), we can still be dug up if we lean on our ability to forgive and forgo another person's faults.
It's only easier to forgive and forget if the 'offended' lets the 'offender' "Dig", and that's when the two key elements come into play.._

------ About the song Agoraphobia performed by Incubus
The song is about the love that has been lost in the world today. "42nd floor on a distant shore" refers to people working their lives away and forgetting what is really important, love. I love the line about another day in a world with ego trips. So true. More people care about things than human beings these days. Whole song is about what can be done to change it? "Put down your hollow tips," guns... And make life what you want it to be and stop worrying about other peoples' business.

------ About the song I Miss You performed by Incubus
This song reminds me of someone I had never a relationship to but who I always have to think of. I guess he relates it to me as well. In the moment I miss him... although I'm in a new relationship... It's just that our relationship never startet and I don't know why. We both had/have feelings for each other and I cannot understand what went wrong. Maybe I will never understand it and always think of this 'lost love'.

------ About the song Neither Of Us Can See performed by Incubus
Both voices in this song echo the same sentiment. In spite of having the physical and emotional attributes necessary to make objective assessments about their own identities, these two individuals have failed to do so. Both voices lament this when they say that "isn't it disdainful and curious that both of us think we know everything" even though they both share the physical and emotional attributes necessary to make proper assessments(we both have brains, eyes, pain, lies, one in the same, two of a kind
And neither of us can see). The truth of the matter is that both individuals are works in progress- "walking chemical reactions, buzzing hives of cell synapses full of nascent self perception"- they just don't know it. Most people I encounter in this world are just like the 2 people in this song- but occasionally you will meet an individual who can transcend the status quo- that is a person worth holding onto.

------ About the song I Miss You performed by Incubus
It's fascinating how i think there's so many more people like me who would take their time reading pages and pages of what people have written in their comments, just to feel a little bit better, or try to relate to it in some way.
Can i relate to this anyway with the fact that i've never been in a physical relationship? Sure, i don't see any reason why not. I understand what it's like. I'm almost 17, and havent even been in a relationship. In a way, in makes me feel awful- alone, and not just anti-social, but more so afraid; afraid of what i'm going to be in life, if i don't have anything or anyone to help me carry on. I look at the other side of this as a good feeling of avoiding high school drama, but it doesnt change the fact that i do still feel pain inside, and have mixed feelings of love, pain, and confusion.
Growing up from a broken home, on the pinnacle of despair, i know more than a lot of people give me credit for. And sure, you may think "well, that's your problem." but why judge? Anyway, i do have a few good friends back where i used to live, and i never really thought of what they thought of me, which kind of hurts- but i miss them either way. I can say with a straight face that i miss my childhood. This song is just another great song by Incubus that helps me, (like most music) cope with the situation. Sure, it doesnt cure it- but it helps. It gives you that feeling that tells you to hang on- even if you feel inside that you're too lost to make it.
This song was played at my ex boyfriends funeral. The love of my life
You honestly have no idea what you have till its gone and when its gone
its a whole lot harder then you think
me and locky did everything together
literally everything
and would not be ashamed to talk about anything
we were soul mates
so when you meet the person you know 100% you want to be with
and trust me you will know
do not let them out of your sight
locky was is now my gaurdian angel and i believe that
he was an angel
i love you baby xx

------ About the song Drive performed by Incubus
Religious song? Non-conformity? I listened to this song a second time. I agree with everything you just said.
This song, in my opinion- IS about how one is frightened by, per se the concept of hell, which in Christian faith is eternal damnation. There are so many phrases in this song that give this theory away, and thanks for pointing it out!
"Would you choose water over wine?"
Another Christian reference, referring to how Jesus had turned water INTO wine. Would you choose water over wine, meaning would you rather take whats given to you to perceive or what everyone else is on about. Like you said, conformity. And not just conformity, but to the concept in religion.
"It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around"
In almost every song, you don't quite catch it's meaning right away until you look for metaphors like this one- and try to make sense of it. "It's driven me before-" meaning, that the thought of, "Hey, is this real? Well, i don't want to burn forever, let me just believe in this." has made him look at that and believe, out of FEAR, what everyone was saying.. until of course he opened his mind.
"And it seems to be the way everyone else gets around"- kind of obvious? Everyone else, meaning anyone else who is following that religion blindly, without making their own decision, and without giving it a second thought.
Off-topic: I look at religion as a joke. Not such as a joke, but yes, it does give me that sense of fear that, why ARE we here... i cannot simply agree with the scientists on this part of thinking that nothingness went through the big bang, and boom, we're all here today. There's a meaning somewhere... and who knows- maybe they're right and maybe they're wrong. EITHER WAY, i'm going to have an open mind about it. I still consider this atheism.

------ About the song I Miss You performed by Incubus
A month or so ago i had my first kiss. I am 16, almost 17, so this was a little late compared to most kids. But i wouldn't have picked to have it with anyone else. We never ended up dating though, and a few weeks after we madeout, we lost our friendship. I don't know what happened, or why we stopped talking to each other, but i miss him so much. I think about him everyday and how if i had a chance i would have told him how i felt and how i did not want to lose him. He was a great friend to me. I stopped some of my "bad" habbits because of him, and since we stopped talking i have picked them back up. Not only was he my first kiss, but he was an amazing friend and just seeing him made me smile. I miss him like crazy and this song (along with probably 50 other songs) makes me feel like he is next to me again, and that peice of my heart he took is back in place again.

D, I fall deeper in love with you with every day. Like the ocean waves, the reasons are endless, but just like they crash to the shore, my love will always go to you... You're about to leave, but I'll be waiting on that shore for you. With a pounding heart that "beats fast & slow at the same time", I want you to know that I love you more than you can ever comprehend. you are my love, my heart, my smile. :) -J

me and my boyfriend are together for 3 years.after a year of being together, their family moved to a diffrent place and leave us no choice but say farewell, but we did not end the love that we started. we still see each other during sembreak and sembreak and sometimes christmas.
uL truly realize the worth of someone if they are far. but the most important thing of all is that we love each other despite the distance between us. it was never a hindrance for our love and until now we are growing stronger than ever.
i knw how it felt to love someone so very far away but the best thing about it is, when u see each other ul treasure all the moments uv all shared and how our love stayed even the distance..
<i love u dae>

------ About the song Drive performed by Incubus
My take on this amazing song is that it is indeed about religion and God, but certainly not about believing in it. Let me break it down a bit.
Christianity is a fear based religion. Brandon sings, "And I can't help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer..." Christianity is also a faith based religion where you submit your will to a master plan, ie: everything is just part of the "plan" and any choices made on your own free will and against God's plan come with heavy guilt. Brandon sings, "Will I choose water over wine, and hold my own and drive?" This is clearly a statement of free will, and the choosing of water over wine I feel is a symbolic reference to the story of Jesus turning water into wine. Only in this case, he chooses water instead, going against the choice made by everyone else submitting to God.
The lines "It's driven me before, and it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal. But lately I'm beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel," and "It's driven me before, and it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around. But lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself, my light is found" are both further statements of going against the masses to make your own choices.
In short, this song, like many other Incubus songs, is about non-conformity. But many things in this song could easily point at organized religion in particular...and the water vs. wine reference to me is icing on the cake inferring that this song is indeed talking about the rejection of religion.
Hail atheism! This song is absolutely incredible and carries a powerful message.

The first time I heard this song was several years ago and though I knew the words, I did not completely understand them. My boyfriend has been gone for almost two weeks and I am realizing how much he taught me about love. I have never been so excited to see someone in the morning in my life and every night I have to imagine that he is asleep next to me so I can fall asleep
