Blondie was the greatest pop band of the New Wave Punk era.
They were pop because you can't really say they were new
wave or punk, or funk, or disco, or art for that matter.
They did everything that interested them -- including the
first rock/reggae and rock/disco. To some they were new
wave with their ironic words, cool haircuts and Debbie in
day glo Steven Sprouse fashions. To some they were punks --
mocking rock dinosaurs and Debbie the cover girl on Punk
Magazine. Whatever they did, it all came out sounding great
and Blondie remains one of the biggest hitmaking bands of
our time.
The original Blondie was formed in 1974 by art
student/fallen away hippie guitarist Chris Stein and
ex-Max's Kansas City waitress and Playboy bunny, vocalist
Debbie Harry, drummer More...
Review about Blondie Not about aliens | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Shayla performed by Blondie
It's not about alien abduction. It's about suicide (jumping off a bridge and landing near or on a freeway, to be precise). "Leave in peace and end her stay" and "years of fear were in her way" are obvious clues. As to the cosmic energy, that's the sudden realization of the people passing by her corpse that she existed (she was "just a number" and "wasn't history," so no one really noticed her before). And they "wondered" about her because it's unusual to see a woman lying so peacefully outside with thunder cracking and cars driving around with their headlights on. In fact, the music video hints at this when they show Debbie laying motionless on a conveyor belt when she sings those exact lyrics.
Maybe first rap song but my memory is more surreal | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Rapture performed by Blondie
When MTV was in its infancy, I think it was 1982 or 1983 when a childhood friend had MTV with a 'ghost' channel on it (seeing 2 channels at once, the other one not so clear, only a 'shimmer') and he would be 'misguided' in more ways than one (he was a christina, but ...). he would tape record songs off MTV and give the tapes to me. He became 'obsessed' with this song, because of "THE MAN FROM MARS IS EATING CARS" (We were in elementary school) weird thing, the tapes recorded right off the tv were allways muffled. Because of my ADD, i couldnt make out the lyrics. Also the lines here "Just have your party on TV..." i bet are in reference to http://www.tvparty.org/. The Hardest Part Review | Reviewer: Kelly Matthews
------ About the song The Hardest Part performed by Blondie
The beautiful and talented Debbie Harry delivers a great vocal on this Blondie song. The solid rhythm takes you in and makes you nod your head. The video to this rockin' tune shows Debbie at her best. I was always a fan of the more edgy Blondie sound, rather than the laid back reggae feel. I guess that's why 'The Hardest Part'
has stood out to me as one of my favs. I could hear a metal band with a female vocalist covering this.
Damn good album by Debs | Reviewer: sleazy
------ About the album Debravation performed by Blondie
Finally Debs (as us fans like to call her!) came out with a decent "anti-disco" album as I like to call it. Debravation has all the ingredients for making the perfect 'psych-pop' record from the singer of a band that saved the 80s from total musical oblivion, Blondie. Just listen to songs like Dancin' down the moon and fly high with Debbie Harry.

------ About the song Rapture performed by Blondie
MTV had been on the air less than 24 hours when the video for this song was shown for the first time. You can hardly say Blondie broke the "rap barrier" when there was no barrier to be broken, or that MTV "would not have latched onto rap" and "were not ready to embrace this style".
My Fave Song EVER | Reviewer: Don Plaid Retina
------ About the song Shayla performed by Blondie
...but I never knew it was about abduction! I gotta thank you guys for that, cuz after all these decades I have something new to meditate on. This was always my fave Blondie song. There's a video for it out there somewhere, with a lot of other Eat to the Beat videos. I used to listen to Shayla over & over all night.
Perfect | Reviewer: Isi
------ About the song Undone performed by Blondie
Possibly the most influencial and best pop song of its time. It is the epitome of flirtation, crushing on someone, trying to read double meanings... the list goes on. Surely could only be described as perfection.
Shayla as a country music style song | Reviewer: Fabio (italy)
------ About the song Shayla performed by Blondie
Blondie performed a lot of genres but with its unmistakeable style: Hard Punk rock, disco, electronic, reggae, rap, calypso, ska...always succeeding. That one tastes like a slow country song.

It has a great ethereal quality to it which fits great with the alien abduction storyline. Classic base lines and great drumming from Clem Burke. One of their best (and they had many!).

------ About the song End To End performed by Blondie
Great song by blondie. Debbie's voice is sweet,,,great melody, great beat, one long hook....classic pop blondie...kinda in the same catergory as Call Me....as good...should have been a hit...why they released Undone as the second single off of the Curse of Blondie...instead of End to End...is really confusing...listen to both songs and you will know what I mean.
