Lyrics - Iron Maiden Lyrics
| |
Formed in London, England, in 1976, Iron Maiden was from
the start the brainchild of Steve Harris (b. 12 March 1957,
Leytonstone, London, England; bass), formerly a member of
pub rockers Smiler. Named after a medieval torture device,
the music was suitably heavy and hard on the senses.
The heavy metal scene of the late 70s was widely regarded
as stagnant, with only a handful of bands proving their
ability to survive and produce music of quality. It was at
this time that a new breed of young British bands began to
emerge. This movement, which began to break cover in 1979
and 1980, was known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal,
or N.W.O.B.*.M.. Iron Maiden were one of the foremost bands
in the genre, and many would say its definitive example.

Review about Iron Maiden
Think about this | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song The Number of the Beast performed by Iron Maiden
I am a Christian. In the book of Revelation, John warns of the beast and its mark and so forth (read it), that's where the narration at the intro come from. In chapter 22, the angel says 'do not seal this book,' In other words, tell people about it and warn them.
Whether or not Iron Maiden are warning people I don't know but they're getting the message out aren't they. Isn't "I have the power to let my evil take its course," a warning.
So to those of you 'Holy' people, stop condemning it. Don't take the song ir the meaning to heart but don't condemn it either. Think about this, they got the message out..You or I don't know how many understand its meaning but hasn't God blessed them beyond their wildest dreams? Maybe they wrote it in an "evil" context but the message of Revelation couldn't be clearer...
so let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast. For it is the number of man, its number is 666....

An Absolute Masterpiece! | Reviewer: Sairjohn
------ About the song Paschendale performed by Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden has done a stupendous work on this song! Everything on it, the lyrics, the melody, the performance of the musicians, produces the impactating effect of taking us emotionally to the battle field! (I've cried several times hearing this song.)
This song is a magnificent tribute to all who fought and died absurdly not only in Paschandale, but also in any battle of World War I. More than this, it's a powerfull manifest against this plague of human race, that is the war.

------ About the song The Number of the Beast performed by Iron Maiden
It's a FUCKING SONG. A fucking awesome song, but still just a song. Either way, throughout most of the song he's trying to resist. It's only at the end that he doesn't because he's posessed or something.
And if you're gonna pick on one "satanic" band, pick on them all: AC/DC, Black Sabbath, you know the drill.

------ About the song The Number of the Beast performed by Iron Maiden
I know, i know... the song has awesome riffs and Bruces scream at the begining is awsomely gutteral... but lets not kid ourselves... it is satanic. The lyrics take the book of revelations out of context and actually glorify the crossing over into the darkside 'i have the fire, i have the force'; justifying its allure (66...the one for you and me) and also justifying posession 'mesmerize, i cant resist'. Furthermore, unlike Black Sabbaths self-titled debut track, there is no moral resolution or contricion, just the acceptance of evil... its there plain and simple. Anyone who can honestly ignore this is looking too deeply into something that isnt there, or are just being argumentative for the sake of it (litrally playing devils advocate, if you will); in fact, unlike '2 minutes to midnight' this song isnt clever at all... I mean if Harris is saying its about a dream, well i can say i was dreaming when i wrote this too. Also about Tom Araya being Christian, well hes not - the main doctrine of any Christian denomination is to respect its teachings, one of these ways is to explicitly reject Satan and his work - this isnt hard to do! I could say im a duck or an astro-scientist - but that would just make me facetious... rock stars are can be tougne in cheek too.

------ About the song Iron Maiden performed by Iron Maiden
A song many would have put first on their album.......BUT Maiden strategically put it LAST!!! When you finish listening to this album and after THIS song, you will never forget the name "IRON MAIDEN"!!(Wants you dead......;)...)
And this Album (like most all)Does just that...IT KILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets not get started talking about a GREAT "ending to a concert" song. A song that lets it all loose, No Fluff, Just-Hard-Ass-Metal.

------ About the song Alexander The Great performed by Iron Maiden
I don't get it. I am a turk and In Turks History we have a lot of hero like alexander, they fought against Crusaders, they took a lot of land but i really hadn't been affected.Because they fought for glory, gold, become master of world. And think William Wallace(Scots against Britons for freedom)in my nation Ilteris Kagan (Turks against Chinese for freedom)and the last ATATURK fought against all of world for freedom. for me, if you fight for money or glory you are nothing but if you fight for freedom you are a legend...

------ About artist/band Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden is an amazing band. I first heard them a year ago. Sure, I'm a teen and it's taken me some time to get my ears out to the band. But I love their music. The music is great and the lyrics are unbelievably well written and meaningful. One of the few intelligent metal bands that are still in existence. Although, Maiden had it's hard times in the beginning like any other band, it has become something so much more. Iron Maiden is an inspiration to all!
Live Version | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Paschendale performed by Iron Maiden
When i was there live i think the bit before bruce starts the line "Dodging shrapnel and barbed wire" as he does fall onto(well looks like) barbed wire it's as if he has just been shot and the guitars going lower brings out the terror...it's a very moving song!
Satanic | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song The Number of the Beast performed by Iron Maiden
They have been openly critisized in the music industry for being satanic. Haha. They're one of the most conroversial metal bands since...black sabbath i guess. I always thought the satanic thing was just a way of expressing their freedom. Their freedom to express their freedom through music. The whole satanic thing is just a gimmik, like naked ladies on hip-hop videos.
Learning From History | Reviewer: Kelly Matthews
------ About the song Run to the Hills performed by Iron Maiden
This song isn't political, it's historical. I don't care what political party you support, the bottom line is that the same mistakes are not made again. For those who refuse to remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

------ About the song Infinite Dreams performed by Iron Maiden
I don't like to categorize songs as "the best song ever", I rather like just to say this is a great song both the contents of the lyrics and the music, when I bought the album back in the 80's this was the song that inmediately took my attention. Thanks Iron Mainden!
