This band has no past. Literally . . .
That statement wasn't accurate when it began the liner
notes to Cheap Trick's first album in 1977, and it sure
isn't true now.
Since first blowing out of Rockford, Illinois to
reinvigorate American rock'n'roll with a unique brand of
high-powered pop, the colorful quartet of Rick Nielsen
(guitars), Robin Zander (voices, guitars), Bun E. Carlos
(drums) and Tom Petersson (basses) has never stopped adding
to its achievements. They've gotten onstage with Smashing
Pumpkins, backed Move wizard Roy Wood, recorded with John
Lennon, wreaked fandemonium on tour in America and Japan
and worked with producers as diverse as George Martin and
Todd Rundgren.
They can point to four platinum albums (At Budokan reached
triple-platinum) and three gold LPs More...

------ About the song He's A Whore performed by Cheap Trick
Wow, this is over 30 years old! But it's got a good beat and a catchy tune as well as interesting lyrics. Cheap Trick always seemed to not quite make the top tier of rock bands, but in their own way they were a very solid act. As things worked out I saw them in concert three times in the late 70's / early 80's and they were really good.
He's a Whore is almost never heard, but ought to be...

Yesterday, I was playing the play station two game "Guitar Hero II" then i practiced using this song. I'm so tired of looking at the television and to streak the notes.. so I stopped! and then i just listened to the song without the guitar it's awesome. My brother is laughing because i was not playing~! Starting that day, I just listen to the songs in the practice mode of Guitar Hero II. I Love the song..

I came across this song a few others by Cheap Trick while watching the movie "Over the Edge". I think Cheap Trick is amazing and they definatley have their own sound that makes unqiue and clearly one of the best bands of their time today.

------ About the song Auf Wiedersehen performed by Cheap Trick
25 or so years ago my neighbor's wife committed suicide. She complained of "cold knees" and sent her children and dog away to visit a friend's house for the afternoon, buying just enough time to suffocate on carbon monoxide in her garage.
For the next year or so, whenever I felt duely inspired, I took the liberty to crank "Auf Wiedersehen" out the windows of my home for the benefit of the neighbors.
What a fucking pussy thing to do, kill oneself. I don't know what the history of this song is. I don't know WTF inspired Rick Nielsen to write it. I only know it comes across as a ruthless, heartless, sneering, scathing kiss-off to anyone who thinks suicide solves anything. How appropriate.
So for all the hopeless suicidals out there, here's a little sympathy from me and Uncle Ricky. Very little. So long, sucker. Enjoy your time in hell for not having the balls to live or the brains to figure out how.

------ About the album Next Position Please performed by Cheap Trick
I really liked this album even before I knew Todd Rundgren produced it. Even if you are not a fan of his (or theirs), this album is really a sculpted gem if you like great power-pop like the stuff Little Stephen preaches. Like a lot of their early stuff and maybe even more so, it's raw enough to keep it's edge, and catchy enough to be on the radio. Doesn't sound like, but hits me like the first Strokes CD, as far as creativity in the garage-pop realm. Pretty cool stuff.

It's kinda cool that Cheap trick is from my home town, Rockford Illinois. I heard about the band on the Rockford Daily Online News that Dave Syverson ( an illinois state represenative ) gave Cheap Trick a break in their band and made them more popular and since they were from my home town, I was eager to see how good they were. The song "Say Goodbye" was the very first song I listened to by them. This is one my favorite bands, and my favorite band from what type of band this is - it is definetly a unique band.

------ About the song Surrender performed by Cheap Trick
Well I stumbled upon Cheap Trick by accident while scouting around some Rock site and I have NEVER looked back [or forward] to the shit that is manufactured nowadays. Up with the CheapTrick fans out there!!!
I had the priveledge in my younger rocking years to open for Cheap Trick at the Marion Popcorn Festival somewhere in Ohio. I learned quickly that this band took no prisoners. They were serious musicians, and they still are.
The 70's Show theme and their steroidic rendition of In the Strret, is meteoric. Contrast and compare to the earlier version sung by Axel Rose. Axl and whoever the band were simply pulled up lame. Flat notes, very shallow guitar sound. Just doesn't rock.
Examples of sonic candy..... Rick Nielsen's crunching godzilla guitar and the mega miles he gets out of pontificating and augmenting a Dmajor chord, well he is Unrelenting. The six string bass plays the 3rd and 5th harmony. Wow! Zander has always had the gift of being able to make you believe with his voice that you heard this song before, even if you hadn't. Bun E Carlos has a separate killer drum sound pre-programmed for each and every song. Listen to the man make thunder with his sticks. Check out the new album Rockford. They still have it! Sorry Axl. You were a pawn in a marketing machine.
