Elvis Aaron Presley, in the humblest of circumstances, was
born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in
Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother,
Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an
only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee
in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there
in 1953.

This is Elvis' last major hit released during his lifetime. A rock and roll song with bluesy elements, it is flawlessly performed in a way that made Elvis truly the best ever at singing rock and roll. His voice in the final stages of his career had a severe weariness to it, which ironically assisted in providing this very effective presentation of "Way Down." His abject vocal fatigue successfully represents the songwriter's overall confusion. It's his best work in the final year of his life by far, properly reaching the top of US country charts and the top of the English charts. So, this was a fitting ending, and while Elvis was not at his supreme best in the final years of his life, how many will be able to say they were?
I remember the release of this album and how excited I was to play it. Most of the cuts did drag a bit, but For the Heart was great. It's a shame Elvis favored the slow songs verses the upbeat ones.

The Elvis in Concert album came out not long after his death. I recall feeling really sad when I heard it. Included is the "I forgot the words" Are You Lonesome Tonight track, that alone is still hard to listen to. Still, it's Elvis and we love him still. I'm still waiting for Elvis on Tour to be released with an accompying cd...COME ON!

This always confused me as I grew up knowing this as a Queen song, but when I bought my first iPod off eBay, the previous owner had a bunch of Elvis songs and sure enough there was an Elvis-sounding version of this song on there... So today I was playing this on my guitar and decided to look up if Queen covered an Elvis Song or if this was an early 70's song recorded by Queen and then covered by Elvis... After wiki-ing it I found no evidence of Elvis ever being associated with this song, therefore my guess is one of the previous posts is correct and that an Elvis Imposter had recorded this song and released it probably on KaZaA or something (I bought this iPod a long time ago lol) and many people downloaded it thinking it really was Elvis, thus spawning this lyric page of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Elvis Presley"

I spent quite a few years with elvis and what you saw in the movie, "Elvis and Me" is pure fantasy. Priscilla was the wicked with of the east and west. You have to remember that Elvis grew up poor in the south and those values never change. Priscilla on the other hand was an Air Force "BRAT" who got away with everything. She is the one who made life miserable for him. And the only drugs elvis was on was cancer drugs and pain medication to help him sleep. The title of this song is "Can't Help Falling In Love" which Elvis used as the closing song on his live concerts.
He did however record the song "Fools Rush In" which is a completely different song. He featured this in some of his live concerts, because when Ricky Nelson recorded it in the early 60s--his recording had a very unusual guitar solo by James Burton. Elvis used to introduce the song, by acknowledging James Burton's unique playing on the Nelson record...and James would oblige by duplicating that incredible solo note for note!

I came across this song tonight (revived by the UB40 though). With some booze in hand, this song made me cry as it exactly portrays the exact picture of my stance. On the line "Like a river flows, surely to the sea, Darlin', so it goes, some things are meant to be," I never believed in fate, destinies, nor fairy tales until it hit me--and it hit me hard. This song is just so simple, but it shows how complicated life can be, when we fall in love.

It's hard to believe that Elvis recorded this song over 50 years ago!!! It has stood the test of time, and in my opinion it is one of the best songs that he ever recorded, not necessarily for the song itself, but for his rendition.

Whenever Elvis sang anyone else's song (in this case, Billy Swan's song), he ALWAYS sang it better than the person who originally sang it..ALWAYS! The fact that I've never even heard of Jakie Graham tells me that he couldn't be very good. Sorry, Joanne, Jakie Graham's number one fan..you just might be his ONLY fan!
