Robert Nesta Marley
BORN: February 6, 1945, St. Ann, Jamaica
DIED: May 11, 1981, Miami, FL
In the year 1944, Captain Norval Marley married a young
Jamaican girl named Cedalla Booker. On February 6, 1945 at
two thirty in the morning their son, Robert Nesta Marley
was born in his grandfather's house. Soon after Bob was
born his father left his mother. He did however give
financial support and occasionally returned to see his son.
It was now the late fifties, jobs were scarce in Jamaica,
so Bob followed his mother from their home in St. Ann to
Trenchtown (West Kingston) to seek employment in the big
city. Trenchtown got it's name because it was built over a
ditch which drained the sewage of old Kingston. In
Trenchtown Bob spent a lot of his time with his good frie More...

'no fear for atomic energy' this is serious rebellion my brothers; what someone can really call damn commitment to fulfillment of black rights.even at gun point we going to fight and we will not give up.
Wether you input "head" or "hand" the song is beautiful both ways and equally make a lot of sense.
My interpretation of when he uses "hand" is that as slaves their minds were confused and enslaved but they were phisicaly strong.God put them here for a reason.

This song is very interesting...it teaches me that aftre struggling and hardworking then time will come and things will be on the way you tried to put them in..! So do be discouraged at all keep on working hard cos ONE DAY things will be alright as GOD Always pays on ur effort...Like my best loving bro Kidde Bway struggled a lot on his journey to US after our mom whom we depend on her for daily basic needs and her total charity n' love passed away..!but my dear bro said "no" and by insipiration of this song now he's living at America...bt after a huge struggle and deep sufferings..!
Thank GOD!
Bravo Kidde.!!
R.I.P our mom!!!

------ About the song Zimbabwe performed by Bob Marley
You brethrens are mis'overstanding' the message and the history. Nesta Marley is preaching the truth, Africa needs to be liberated. When he is taling about "Brother you're right!!", he is talking about the man who invited him to Zimbabwe's independence inaguration--Comrade Robert Mugabe. Leaders like Mugabe are actually doing what needs to be done in Africa. Livicating themselves for the cause of the African People, chanting down Babylon and leading us to the gates of Zion.

the section that is typed "But through your f...in' respect and through your false pride",,, Should read "Through your lack of respect and through your false pride",,,,
worrying to me that this mistype has circulated,,, and that the message of the song could be twisted, Did the person who spawned this mistype ever listen to this song I wonder, Indeed I wonder.
Could the WORLD bend down & be listened to the voice of the son of the higher man?
Bob had six sons, Ziggy, Damian, Stephen, Julian, Ky-many, & Rohan. And in ZIGGY is known to be prophet, glory to JAH the prophet has come {through all these stages}
When my soul was hurtin' deep within,
And I'm worrying to be free, desperately so guide and protect I'n'I, O Jah Jah,
Through all these ages;
Guide and protect I'n'I, O Jah Jah,
Through all these stages. Rastafari is his name BOB. if JAH didn't luv us, he wouldn't have sent to us BOB son of JESUS CHRIST to teaches the world wrong from right.
I give thanks to JAH who make i & i to be path of the family, RASTAFARI.

As I found myself in the middle of something I've always seen on TV in the late 60's, I didn't know that the Lord would prepare me for the biggest struggle of my life as a FREEDOM FIGHTER for my son that was a part of the Jena 6. I just kept praying to God and writing letters to someone that I thought would listen. Hey, I beleived in the one thing Bob Marley wrote to STAND UP FOR RIGHTS, GET UP, STAND UP-STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS-that was my biggest motivation-THANKS-Robert Nesta Marley!!!! I love your music today, and I have to watch-No Woman No Cry-every night to go to sleep!! Jah Bless the Marley Family, Love, Peace, and Happiness!! CaSeptla Bailey P.S. I am truly A RASTA fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob was the man JAH send to preach, not only in the world but down to my home town AGULERI. I was just a little boy when my father plays the songs of the preacherman. {Don't worry 'bout a thing, b'cos, every little thing gonna be alright} was the track my father always played, early morning. I'm crying for the death of BOB till today b'cos, i had a dream to meet him alive, but look around a tell me what u see. While, i still have faith to meet the family tomorrow. Marley preaching healed the world. AGULERI, REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA
I have learned a lots from the preacher man {BOB}
right from my childhood, my dad use to sing some of Bob's songs that says. So u just want to chop for ur self alone & u don't think 'bout the other man. If the world could listen to Bob Marley son of Jesus Christ, & luv one another, the wold shall be a better place for u & I. Some times, i said i cry when i see Bob's photos. I told my father that i will like to see Bob's live performance but it was late. But glory be to JAH whom gave ZIGGY & brothers to the Rasta man, i hope to see the children live performance just like there father one bright morning. Aguleri, Republic of Biafra
my cousin jesse was the happiest and most peaceful 17 year old kid that walked this planet!!! everything he did no matter how small he always touched the souls of people... no matter who they they were!! he could sit in the back of a room and everytime you made eye contact with him you couldnt help but smile or giggle.. all the girls loved him and he never had enemies.. everyone loves him!!! jesse wright overdosed on october 15, 2009 from a patch he had eaten for a high!! his friends sat there and watched him die while asking for help!! they were too afraid of getting arrested but instead they let there "friend" die right in front of their eyes!!! my cousin will always be remembered as the kid who brought peace to our surroundings.. no matter the occasion... GIVE LIVE LOVE PEACE was his motto and we will live by that motto for the rest of our lives.... he was too young and he will be missed by his family and friends FOR ETERNITY!!! i love you jesse you will always be in my heart and my mind... i miss you little cousin!!!

I started listening to Bob Marley when my friend mentioned him to me. I thought what the hell why not ill listen to a few songs. It blew my mind how much energy he put into his music. It always also sent a positive message which is what i think we all need to. Also his songs are so mellow and whenever your stressed it helps you relax. Especially the song three little birds. It's just an awesome song because it puts you in that mood where you really don't worry at all. Which is something we human beings do way to much. Remember "Don't worry" Bob you were the best we well never forget you.

------ About the song Redemption song performed by Bob Marley
LG, observer and the anonymous reviewer had already explained the historical meaning of that "hand" instead of "head", but there's also a simplest explanation, the lyrical one, thus the repetition of the word "hand" makes the sentence more powerful for the listener. Marley's lyrics are damn good poems, and no doubt Redemption Song is the best one.

guyz who wer arguin earlier saying bob shld hv sayed th ''head'' rather than th ''hand'' so tht it wld make sense, bt to my own opnion n az much az i wld hv loved 2 agree i don think it wld make sense sayin th ''head''. most of u guyz hv taken the literal translation of th e word ''hand'' bt actually if we read inbetween the lines, i think the ''hand'' represents the person as a whole entity. so wat um trying to say iz its the people who were made strong be it mentally, physically or socially by GOD.

My neighbor's beautiful 22 yo daughter was murdered this summer by a crazy ex-boyfriend. She loved Bob Marley. I've always loved this song. In the days after the tragedy I found myself singing this song and thinking of Kayleigh and crying. I understood Kayleigh was bringing this song to my mind and wanted my to tell her mother that every little thing was gonna be allright. Her message for her mom, not to worry, she was at peace and wanted her mom to have peace too...Thank you Bob Marley.
