Robert Nesta Marley
BORN: February 6, 1945, St. Ann, Jamaica
DIED: May 11, 1981, Miami, FL

In the year 1944, Captain Norval Marley married a young
Jamaican girl named Cedalla Booker. On February 6, 1945 at
two thirty in the morning their son, Robert Nesta Marley
was born in his grandfather's house. Soon after Bob was
born his father left his mother. He did however give
financial support and occasionally returned to see his son.

It was now the late fifties, jobs were scarce in Jamaica,
so Bob followed his mother from their home in St. Ann to
Trenchtown (West Kingston) to seek employment in the big
city. Trenchtown got it's name because it was built over a
ditch which drained the sewage of old Kingston. In
Trenchtown Bob spent a lot of his time with his good frie More...

------ About the song Redemption song performed by Bob Marley

guyz who wer arguin earlier saying bob shld hv sayed th ''head'' rather than th ''hand'' so tht it wld make sense, bt to my own opnion n az much az i wld hv loved 2 agree i don think it wld make sense sayin th ''head''. most of u guyz hv taken the literal translation of th e word ''hand'' bt actually if we read inbetween the lines, i think the ''hand'' represents the person as a whole entity. so wat um trying to say iz its the people who were made strong be it mentally, physically or socially by GOD.

------ About the song Three little birds performed by Bob Marley

My neighbor's beautiful 22 yo daughter was murdered this summer by a crazy ex-boyfriend. She loved Bob Marley. I've always loved this song. In the days after the tragedy I found myself singing this song and thinking of Kayleigh and crying. I understood Kayleigh was bringing this song to my mind and wanted my to tell her mother that every little thing was gonna be allright. Her message for her mom, not to worry, she was at peace and wanted her mom to have peace too...Thank you Bob Marley.

------ About the song Three little birds performed by Bob Marley

Eddie 19 yrs old was killed this past Sunday in a head on collision. He fathered my 2 yr old grand daughter & this song was his ringtone on his phone. He carried this attitude that " every little thing is gonna be alright". I play the song over and over, and am now teaching the song to his daughter. We also played this song at his funeral. Life is short..we are not promised tommorrow..R.I.P. Eddie

Hand and head explanation. | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Redemption song performed by Bob Marley

U guyz don't get it at all...when bob says 'but my hand was made strong by the hand of the almighty'...he means the slaves were touched by the almighty through their faith n got the strength they needed to free themselves from slavery first then fight for their other rights.he couldn't say 'but head my was made strong by the hand of the almighty...' coz at the time he was witnessing the civil rights movement.it wasn't about mind,it was about hand coz men matched and fought physically for their rights.force was used against them so that should give you an idea..this guy was a genius.

------ About the song Three little birds performed by Bob Marley

I was just standing outside near the river full of anxiety, pondering some things that are going on and i hear this song out in the distance. A few seconds later I see a man jogging by, must have been in his 70's and he was singing this at the top of his lungs. Anyways, it filled me with peace and almost brought me tears. I would like to thank that man jogging for he came just at the right time.

    our mantra | Reviewer: Mo
------ About the song Three little birds performed by Bob Marley

I have a son who is struggling (in school, in life) and this (Don’t worry about a thing,
'cause ev’ry little thing gonna be all right)
has become our mantra. In the car on the way to school, I play this song and we sing...try to get inspired. Sometimes it's about taking life one day at a time and knowing God will not give you more than you can handle.

------ About the song Redemption song performed by Bob Marley

This song by the King portrays a strong conviction that, man with all his devices and that of all about him can't beat the time. The will of God prevails always. These lines of wisdom taught me to chase the wind no more.

Bob Marley/ Johnny Nash got him out of Jamacia and into the Spotlight! | Reviewer: Bob Charles
        ------ About artist/band Bob Marley

I think this long and mostly thorough biography was well done, but did miss the very large influence and support Bob received from Johnny Nash. When Johnny went to record in Jamacia, Bob was "hired" to sweep up the recording studio because Bob just wanted to be "there" and to show Johnny his songs he wrote and his "Wailers" group. "Stir It Up"(with Bob and his group on backup) was "Huge"in England and in the "Mellow" AC Chart in America, "Guava Jelly"(even recorded by Barbra Steisand) and songs he co-wrote with Johnny, got Bob his recording contract and out of Jamacia to England, where The Rock steady/Ska sound was really hot, and the likes of Eric Clapton and others started looking to Bob's songs for them to play.
Anyone who really appreciates and enjoys Bob Marley's songs and loving and peaceful influence we all still can feel and pass on, should really know Johnny Nash and his great sound too. BC

Remember the Legend | Reviewer: steph
        ------ About artist/band Bob Marley

Bob Marley wasn't about smoking pot and being a stoner. Yeah sure he smoked pot but what he stood for was peace, love and music. It bothers me when people talk about Bob Marley as a stoner cause that's not what he should be known for. I don't think Bob Marley would like to be known for that either. He should be known for as someone who had a deep love for music and was full of peace and love. I mean thats what he was all about. That's why he performed at all those peace concerts. So please respect what he did and speak of him as a legend with a view of loving others and helping others..don't like him because he's a pot head, have more meaning behind why you like him, i love Bob Marley and yeah I listen to his music when I get high but I listen to his music all the time..he's my hero for the things he did and what he supported. But I loved reading this biography and learning more about Bob Marley and the Wailers, awesome job to whoever wrote it, I appreciate the time it must have taken you to write it. But again to everyone remember Bob Marley as a legend who lives on and wanted nothing more that peace and love. He looked at everyone as equal, which is something I try to do everyday, "Don't judge the life I live. I know I'm not perfect and I don't strive to be, but before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean first" ...."Love the life you live, live the life you love" Peace
