Chumbawamba have always been mavericks. When they formed in
the eighties, they were a punk rock reaction to the
Thatcherite foppery of Duran, Duran and Spandau Ballet.
Wilfully anarchic, the band developed the ethos that punk
is an attitude rather than a style of music, their music
has spanned everything from acidic pop to accappella
harmonies to break beats layered with atmospheric folk
samples. Chumbawamba have always set themselves against
conservatives with a small ?c? in both a political and
musical sense.
Throughout their long and chequered career Chumbawamba have
inspired such glowing headlines as the Sun?s ?Heartless
Bastards!? *1 and managed to have two albums removed from
the shelves of major record chains on the grounds that a

I love this song by Chumbawamba. The fact that their genre is Anarchist makes me interested in them more and more. Chumbawamba's music is so Brit, so high, so civilized. I love them ! "We'll be singing.. When we're winning!" indeed !

The lyrics seem so simple and true and jus as mentioned above, I too have been singing this song since a long time but could never quite understand the lyrics ..thanks to this post ..now I can ..its wonderful.

The last line isn't "She's wearing a tie, she doesn't mean to say it very important", which dosn't even make sense, its "Just because you're wearing a tie, doesn't mean to say you're important", which makes alot more sense.

I listen to the song while reading this, its absolutly amazing, the words perfectly capture the song.
That song sounds so cool!! Where can I find it (and all the rest of Chumbawamba's rare songs?) I would really love to hear them. But as for this song, those lyrics sound so awesome and creative!

I couldn't recall the artist or song title and only a few of the words (not even a complete sentence) and your site guess it on the first try! Very impressive! I'm happy that I now know the song/band name but also b/c it was driving me crazy all day!
I have recently purchased one of Chumbawamba's albums. They are incredible!!! I am facinated at the many harmonies that the band is capable of. Their style is unique and the band is superb! I could not have made a better cd myself!
