Piece of My Heart Lyrics
Performed by Janis JoplinReview The Song (17)
(Come on…)
Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man, well yeah,
An' didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough,
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.
I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby, (break a..)
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah. (have a..)
Hey! Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, yeah.
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh yes indeed.
You're out on the streets looking good, and baby,
Deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right,
Never never never never never never never hear me when I cry at night.
Baby, I cry all the time!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain,
But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again.
I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on, yeah take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby. (break a..)
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, (come on…)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, yeah.
Well, You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good
Guitar
I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby. (break a…)
Break another little bit of my heart, darling, yeah. (have a)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it (waaaaahhh)
Take a…Take another little piece of my heart now, baby. (break a…)
Break another little bit of my heart, and darling, yeah yeah (have a)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good

Can't nobody do it like Janis Joplin. Not in my lifetime!! | Reviewer: Lynn Segal | 6/28/11
Nobody that good with her extraordinary voice.I got to see her 'OPEN' for Jimi Hendrix Whoo Talk about being blown away. That was the first time being short really paid off.I sneaked behind everybody who was lined up in front of all these flags, that went all the way around to the stage. I had the best front row seat(stand) but who wasn't standing? Totally inspiring and way way way cool Nobody in front of me except Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. A memory to go the grave with....Lynn Segal

IT"S JUST BLUES PEOPLE!!!
Written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. The song came to greater mainstream attention when Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company covered the song in 1968 on their album Cheap Thrills and had a hit with it. The song has since been remade by several singers, including hit versions by Faith Hill in 1994 and Melissa Ethridge in 2010.
Good Song x | Reviewer: Hayley Elliott | 1/7/10
I have loved this song since I first heard it on the Cadbury's advert. I have only Just found out that it's Janis Joplin that sings it. I am studying her at school and she is quite an inspiration to me apart from her death but I really like her music she has a really powerful voice and should be worldly recognized for her talent. too bad she isn't alive though.
Unable to Stop Loving | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/28/09
It very well could mean a challenge.
I've had experiences like those before, but when I hear this song, I am reminded of other feelings.
To me, this song signifies a woman's love. How it is unstopable. This song is how true love should be defined.
You can break my heart, but I won't leave you and I won't stop loving you. Yes, you have been a jerk, but I fell in love with. I see more to you than how you can hurt me. When you hold me in your arms, you are someone different than the juvenile and cruel man that hurt me. I will always forgive you and love you, because my heart is strong. I am tough, and you can take my heart, rip it to pieces, and then eat it, but only you can do that. Because I love you and I have already given you my heart anyways.
This song shows the side of love that most people never want to deal with, or don't even want to aknowledge that it exists. It is inevitable, the people you love will hurt you, but will you let them "take another piece of your heart"?
A Challenege | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/12/09
One time I witnessed an argument between my friend and her parent's. Her mother attempted to hit her, but my friend grabbed her mother's arm before her mother could hit her. At that point, she stared her mother in the eyes and said, "Hit me! Go head, hit me!" I think that is what this song is about -- a woman who is in a relationship with someone who keeps breaking her heart even though she does her best the keep the person happy. Finally, fed up, she stands up for herself and challenges the man to hurt her, but at the same time asserting that she is stronger, and she isn't going to just sit back and let it happen.
taking it back | Reviewer: casey | 2/18/09
i think shes sayin that she wants you to realize what the guy is doing as he tears her heart open and then trying to get her back then doing it again kinda sounds like my friend and I. he broke my heart because he got me pregnant and now hes with God knows how many other girls. ): i pray he comes back to me.
'Cuz a woman can be tough | Reviewer: Gaard | 11/8/08
This is definitely the kind of song that gave an image of what Janis was and what every woman should be. To endure pain and life and carry on with or without a man. Definitely Janis's voice and passion for music made her great and she had to put up with a lot of things through life and this is the kind of song that reflects that and that marks people's lives at a certain time.
She is to me, one of the toughest and greatest woman there have ever been.
INCORRECT | Reviewer: Ward | 9/7/08
"The song is her sarcasm and her way of lashing out at the guy who's been hurting her and knowing Janis, this is most likely a true story."
You are incorrect.
The song was not written by Janis Joplin, it was actually written by two guys, Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns.
Sad Story | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/3/08
Song is all about her dysfunction as a woman and she keeps on going back to a guy who really cares less about her. He keeps on hurting her and breaking her heart but yet each time when she thinks she's had enough he comes back and the cycle starts all over again.
The song is her sarcasm and her way of lashing out at the guy who's been hurting her and knowing Janis, this is most likely a true story.
Janis was an amazing woman - an amazing talent. She is sorely missed.

I think that this single refer to woman and how are they so tender too sweet but man can't see clear cause of selfishness. she tries to show that men are too proud to admit that they are wrong, they know that it is so "Deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right". on the other hand women reman the same that wonderful creature ready to support and endure pain for her lover. this what means that woman are tough.'cause man can't and will never be able to endure such pain. THNX Ladies for being there for us.
