Laid Lyrics - James

Review The Song (22)

This bed is on fire
With passionate love
The neighbors complain about the noises above
But she only comes when she's on top

My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you're like a disease without any cure
She said I'm so obsessed that I became a bore, oh no
Ah, you think you're so pretty

Caught your hand inside a till
Slammed your fingers in the door
Fought with kitchen knives and skewers
Dressed me up in women's clothes
Messed around with gender roles
Dye my eyes and call me pretty

Moved out of the house, so you moved next door
I locked you out, you cut a hole in the wall
I found you sleeping next to me, I thought I was alone
You're driving me crazy, when are you coming home

James have many more hits than this in the UK and are a fantastic band. I agree with the person who says you don't have to read between the lines the whole time. Here it as you wish and enjoy. American Pie was ok but James was a soundtrack for Uni well before American Pie

the best feel good song ever!! | Reviewer: Aylmer | 12/22/13

First time I heard laid was in the American pie movies, when the movie is about to end, you just want it to carry on because the charactors are so funny and lovable!! I hope they keep making more of them.

Catchy | Reviewer: Dianne | 8/17/13

I just happened to hear this song on 100 one hit wonders on Much More...
The melody grabbed my attention, and the change of clothes and strong words brings me to this website.
I read something in this song as it describes the perfect relationship of love and hate..... she is a sociopath, he is the victim.

i finally found you | Reviewer: desmond | 5/19/12

See,so unlike most of you guys,i just saw the american pie movies some weeks ago and the band camp was my favourite part...(matt stifler was probably the cutest stifler too)and this is one of the few songs that i just couldnt let go off, whenevr i checked the list of the band camp songs,i'd normally try to download others that i used to assume was this song but i was always wrong,i just felt like listening to this LAID song today,so i downloaded it and lo and behold,it was what i'd been looking for...i truly love this song...

addiction | Reviewer: sushruth | 1/6/12

had heard it first in american pie and searched for the song for about 2 years and then heard the song on my laptop and realised that i had it all the time with me
and i have already listened to it about 1000 times and i am listening to it as i am typing

Some of you read way into this song :) | Reviewer: Brandy | 6/11/11

I love this song because it reminds me of my fave relationship. :) I think the lyrics should be interpreted a bit more at face value (not every line is secret meaning for something else). If you have ever had an intense relationship, you can understand how passionate love and passionate hate sometimes go hand and hand. You love like it's the end of the world and sometimes u fight like its the end of the world too. When it's good, it's the best, when it's bad it's the apocalypse! But no matter how crazy is gets, you just cant walk away from each other. L'amour est fou, no?

of the best soundtracks i've heard | Reviewer: Armando | 9/6/09

just like everyone else | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/7/09

I only heard this song a couple of times when it was first relesaed, but loved it. Could not find the name until years later and immediately got it. There is an acoustic version of it also that is just as good.

Yes, A Weird Song, But No, Not A Happy Song At All | Reviewer: another_songwriter | 1/12/09

The narrator is addicted and obsessed with a dominating (she only comes when she's on top), combative (fights me with knives and skewers)and narcissic (you think you're so pretty) woman who humiliates him (dresses me up in women's clothes), tricks him (he believes she is sleeping next to him), steals from him (caught your hand inside the till),confuses him (when are you coming home), and robs him of his identity (I'm becoming bore) but he keeps coming back (my therapist says not to see you no more), even though it's unhealthy (you're like a disease)because the sex is so good (this bed is on fire).

A faily well crafted song.

It used to be... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/9/09

the song they played at the end of the night at a shore bar I went to constantly in the mid-90s (when I was in my 20s) and it brings back those memories immediately whenever I hear it. Hard not to love this song.

I'VE FINALLY FOUND IT!!! 8D | Reviewer: Zadra | 11/16/08

☆☆☆☆☆ I was sitting on the toilet one night when all of a sudden this song pops in my head. I didn't know the words, or where I'd heard it, just the melody♪... I spent ALL night one night, trying to find it online, with absolutely no luck. I asked EVERYONE if they recognized it, but... Still no luck. ALL I had was the tune♪♪♪. MONTHS had gone by, when all of a sudden(could've been a BIT more suddenedener), I'm sitting in my friend's truck while she's inside the 7-11, and I'm totally depressed due to a "break-up", flipping through the radio stations and "BAM!" There it was... I was begining to think that, maybe I had made up the song♪ in my head... "No way!" I remembered it. I don't remember WHAT/WHERE I remembered it from, but I remembered it... And it couldn't have been ♪revealed♪ to me at a better time.ϋ Now I can stop searching/asking/wondering... "Thank You!" - whoever/whatever/however this works... BYE!!! 8) ☆☆☆☆☆

Finally saw the title! | Reviewer: Norm | 7/15/08

Right-foot waking up! | Reviewer: Chuck | 4/15/08

Just woke up today singing the song! It's such a happy (yet weird) tune, doesn't get boring! Ever! I remembre loving James in the mid 90s, but somehow they disappeared...

Wish they made a record soon...

mad song | Reviewer: darren | 11/19/07

WOW....Heard it again on Clevelands 92.3 | Reviewer: Heard it again for the first time | 10/17/07

Unbelieveable....I heard this song several time in the late 90's while living in Austin, Tx, though i never knew the title or group.

After hearing on 92.3 this morning, the first thing I had to do this evening was find out who it was that sang it...

Yeah its funny, i've heard it in a couple movies over the years...don't recall seeing it in the credits though.

Love it, great tune!
