Damien Rice Eskimo Lyrics

Last updated: 09/06/2013 06:52:25 AM

Tiredness fuels empty thoughts
I find myself disposed
Brightness fills empty space
In search of inspiration
Harder now with higher speed
Washing in on top of me
So I look to my eskimo friend
I look to my eskimo friend
I look to my eskimo friend
When I'm down, down, down.

Rain it wets muddy roads
I find myself exposed
Tapping doors, but irritate
In search of destination
Harder now with higher speed
Washing in on top of me
So I look to my eskimo friend
I look to my eskimo friend
I look to my eskimo friend
When I'm down, down, down.

Kosketa minua - Touch me
Älä käsilläsi - Not with your hands
Vaan niin että tunnen sinut - But so that I feel you

Halaa minua - Hug me
Älä käsilläsi - Not with your hands
Mutta sielussasi - But within your soul

Minä kaipaan eskimo-ystävääni - I miss my eskimo friend

When I'm down, down, down.
When I'm down, down, down.
When I'm down, down, down.

to me it's about looking to a colder self, to not care. The "brightness fills empty space." there is a false happiness in some and for me it fills that void. my "eskimo," friends are the beautiful people, who are somewhat more "hardened," to the world.

Strenght | Reviewer: M.Tillman | 3/15/13

This song gaves me strenght after 2012-12-17 after an accident with my bycicle and a car that droves through a red trafficlight.
To hear this song after the accident I say it before, i can let go this traumatic happens and makes me stronger, I like a lot of
music but this song, Wonderful, that Cello and the Opera singer.

drugs | Reviewer: kaityy | 7/16/12

the "Eskimo" he is referring to is coke. not a person, not love, he's referring to the drug.

still a lovely song and you can put your own spin on it but that's what it's about literally.

Bonus Tracks in Eskimo | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/12

I wonder if anyone has the lyrics and titles to the two songs entwined with Eskimo. There is an acapella re-write of Silent Night and a song that Quotes "Cheers Darlin'" anyone know bout that?

I think this is a song from a Finn to a his 'Eskimo Friend'. I find Damien's songs more bittersweet than sweet. They're not just generic love songs. They have different feelings that make up this song, and it's not just a one-dimensional song. That's what makes his music so easy to relate to, and that's what makes it extraordinary.

finnish is definitely not what the inuits speak, it's what us finns speak here in finland (u know, between russia and sweden). Nothing to do with any eskimos. ´hence this song seems a bit silly to us... :P

who is this eskimo? | Reviewer: resinpants | 1/8/11

The opera part is written in Finnish, (whether thats what Inuits speak I dont know!) Dont know what he is singing about, but like many of his songs, its difficult to reconcile the longing and bitterness, with how beautiful the songs are.

this song is astounding. really. the build up to the inuit verse (i think it's inuit? somebody correct me if i'm wrong) is as beautiful and strained as we're used to songs by damien being, but then when it gets to that point, the song just skyrockets. really, magnificent.
