Breathe Into Me Lyrics - Red

Review The Song (27)

And this is how it feels when I ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself when I keep running away from you
And this is who I am when, when I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when it's all left up to me

Breathe your life into me
I can feel you
I'm falling, falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I'm falling, falling
Breathe into me
Breathe into me

And this is how it looks when I am standing on the edge
And this is how I break apart when I finally hit the ground
And this is how it hurts when I pretend I don't feel any pain
And this is how I disappear when I throw myself away

Here's some insight. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/27/14

The band is a Christian band. So, its obvious that the song has religious meaning. But, like most things, it may have a double meaning. The song was written as a cry for help from Jesus. But, it can also be a cry for help from people as tge double meaning. I hope this clears up a little bit.

Taken Straight From Their Bio | Reviewer: Adam Rock | 6/14/14

"First single, “Breathe Into Me,” perfectly sums up this approach. Armed with angular, staccato riffs and Michael’s throat shredding yet melodic vocals, the song is a fierce lament about looking back and not liking what you see. “This is where I lose myself when I keep running away from you,” Michael’s shouts. His redemption comes in a chorus backed with mournful strings and a yearning, almost pleading cry for God to “breathe your life into me—I still need you.”

With that in mind and the fact that this band is a Christian band, I think we all can lay to rest the fact that this song is speaking about God breathing new life in you. It doesn't matter if they use the word "you" instead of God, by reading the entire lyrics and keeping "you" in context of the song, one can realize it is God that Red is referring to in this song.

I don't believe this has ANY religious connections. I guess it all depends on who you ask. Seeing as I could care less what religion people follow I don't want people flooding a good song with religious comments.
For me this song is a cry for help. Like you're broken and you need someone to be there for you. Like say for instance you just get out of a bad break up, this song is the way you'd feel, like you need them desperately.
Take this as you will, but unless the band says so themselves, or the song has a name of a specific religious deity, this song is not connected to any specific relgion.

Song Meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/26/11

For all of you non-Christians, first I just want to say that no one is judging you. If they are, they aren't really living the Christian life they say they are. We want to help you see the truth. When you say the lyrics aren't referring to God so much as just anyone to save them, that really is close to the truth. You need someone to save you, so you think of the best solution, something that you can believe in. That is other people. There really is truth to that. Jesus really wanted to tell us that what matters most is the way we treat other people and love them. The 10 Commandments have 3 commandments about God and 7 about other people. What really matters is that we help eachother, but to do that, you need God. People reach out for what they believe in when they need to explain things. The idea that a friend can save you is a shadow of the real truth, because only God can breathe true life into you.

I am sad that there are so many out there still lost, lonely, deceived by the Devil. I've been there man, and there is hope in the One True living God! Jesus came for us all and is waiting to heal ALL the broken hearted! keep listening to Red find your hope and seek God! In the meantime I'll be prayin' for the lost

This is Christian? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/19/11

When i first heard this, i didn't even know that they were a christian band. in fact, i just now learned that reading these reviews. I cut, i listen to "satanic" music and all of that good stuff. i won't argue with anyone about religion, but i will say this song is amazing. o_o'

I'm decidedly not christian, but i can see how many people take this as a christian song. let me give you the antichrist perspective, so to speak. ;D

"And this is how it looks when I am standing on the edge

That's really deep. even for someone like me, who has some extremely depressing and sad stuff (Ohio is for lovers!<3). i definitely thought this was a emo song when i heard it. i still think they wrote it for emo kids, but if ya'll think it's christian, go ahead. 'o.o

I think it's a song about depression. when you're depressed, you've thrown yourself away, and you feel like you're falling, and that no-body cares enough to catch you and stop you from falling straight into hell. you smile and tell the world it's okay (or you don't), but on the inside you feel the same. you feel alone, angry, and nothing matters anyone. i don't think the line "breathe into me" is meant specifically for god, i just think that it's anyone who can save you from yourself.

Hope this helps you christian peoples.;)

Christain or devilish.... | Reviewer: Crush | 3/21/11

I loved this song the very first day I listened to it. And it reminded me of my own struggles and how I have always depended on God to rescue me. Now, I'm not saying I'm perfect or better but the thing is HUMANS are either controlled by God or by the devil and it is our decision to make....but the bottom line for me is that is song reminds me of how guilty, vile and helpless I am and how I need God above all these in order to stand strong.

So true | Reviewer: Krystal | 12/20/10

I've gone through some hard times and have thought about suicide and cutting and had stuff like no ones cares about you, you are worthless scum. I was dead inside and thought I had nothing to live for, and I am a huge Christian and had that stuff going through my mind.
I never told anyone except on of my friends who is a sister to me, and I had listened to Red and similar bands but nothing ever stuck out and one day my niece said something to me and it made me realize what I was thinking, She said "I love you" and that night I listened to this song and I full realized what I was thinking was wrong and I turnedmy life around right then and there.
So when you listen to this song and you are going through a depression jus remember there are people who love yhou and care about you!
Love in Christ!
This song has an excellent message in it!

Love This Song!!! Red Rocks!!!! | Reviewer: MieKayla Singleton | 11/19/10

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I first heard this song at my Bible Study for the "new song" acivity on Wednesday. The point was to wipe out secular music and expose our teens to gospel music, mostly new gospel Christian music. When I heard this song, it didn't even take me the whole song before I decdided that I wanted this song on my ipod. I actually wiped out the secular rock songs that I liked, and truth be told, gospel rock music is so much better than secular rock. I'm so glad that I heard this song!!!

Christian or not, they do really pwn... But then again, I am a non believer.. Actually, I'm more of a Satanic than a Christian..

However, this song's lyrics aren't necessarily religious.. Instead of someone "falling" and needing the help of.. "Something", it can also be about someone who's wanting the help of someone getting rid of depression and so on..

And I just love the song's ending.. It's like.. BREATHE INTO ME OR FCKIN' DIE!

im myself am a non believer so to me these lyrics have a totally different meaning but i can place myself into a christian position and then... yea i see the religious meaning to it. either way... christian or not they kick a** :D

Red is awesome | Reviewer: eddie | 12/3/09

to prove that they are christian look and tell them what the lyrics mean. if u really think about it the lyrics are actually talking about how god uses the holy spirit to go into people and prove that he is real and that there is no one like him. what this song is saying is that the person who they are reffering to is a man/woman who wants god to get into their life.

i know that red is a christen band because of the the sound and the fact that they do not understand the lyrics they do not believe that it is and my dad is our chirch music directer. how do i pruve it to them

Think.. <3 | Reviewer: G.W.C | 11/9/09

I tried to commit suicide a few weeks back, But heard this song somewhere, I asked about and found it's name; Red - Breathe into me.. I told some frinds about my attempt and they helped me..

They convinced me I didn't need to suicide and that some songs could guide me. I believed them and Now I'm living my life almost to it's fullist.

I still back to the days I was cutting myself and Wish I never had done it, and Thinking about commiting now is rediculous.. Just listen to the words.. Hear their meaning.. If you ever think about commiting just stop and think; If your best friend Commited sucide how would you feel?

Just imagine who you are leaving behind.. Family Friends All the ones who love you.. If you tried to commit suicide stop and think...

Meant something to Me! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/09

I heard this song when I was going through a hard depression. I was cutting, and I felt that no one cared. But when I heard this, it was everything I could have ever wanted to say to god. THanx for the Help, Red!
