Baba O'Riley Lyrics
Performed by The WhoReview The Song (107)
Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living.
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.
yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah
Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland
Sally, take my hand
We'll travel south cross land
Put out the fire
And don't look past my shoulder.
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older.
Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland.
Teenage wasteland
Oh, yeah
Its only teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!

Not piano at beginning | Reviewer: Brett | 3/5/12
Daniel; that piano at the beginning is not piano. It is synthesizer before the era of the synthesizer. More oscilloscopes than a easy-to-use device made by Sony or who-ever.
Never the less, I'm glad you found this band and this song. I had a similar journey at your age as well through all the legends from the 60's and 70's.
Anazing song | Reviewer: Daniel | 2/21/12
Since this song says "teenage wasteland" in it, I thought it would be fitting for a teenager (me) to write a review about it. It think that is an all around good song, but I especially like the keyboard part in the beginning. In some parts of that, it seems like the pianist must've had three hands to make the music that he did. I would definitely put it on my list of top 10 best songs ever.

Love this song | Reviewer: Adam | 2/15/11
This is hands down my favorite Who song. To me it puts into song how juveniles deal with "coming of age", for example the lyrics, "I don't need to fight to proove I'm right". I think back to my teenage years whenever I hear this song. I also agree with Cass, that particular chord you're referring to gives me goosebumps.
Who So Great Live | Reviewer: Greg | 12/10/10
I just wanted to add that The Who came to my town in the late 70's and it was a very, very major deal, as a band of such stature very rarely played there at the time. The government was afraid of riots, so they only raffled the tickets by mail, seriously. My friend won, and I got to go. They kicked off with Baba O'Riley, then Summertime Blues, then Who are You. Oh my God they were great, it was like seeing the Beatles. I never saw a band so strong and confident the could put their best stuff up front like that, and not have to save it for an encore. Thanks for your time, God bless you.

A-frickin-mazing! | Reviewer: Taralynn | 10/22/10
I've always loved this song. It's a fact of life, those who hate this song have no soul. So, when I was watching House earlier and he started playing this song, I jumped up and was like "HECK YEAH!" I of course tried to play it like Hugh Laurie, failed in an epic fashion, and started singing it at the top of my lungs, even after the episode was over.
Long story short, Baba O'Riley, one of the number one songs of EVER. :D

This is a kickin song pump up the volume because bab o riley is the only song im playing. This is an execllent the best one they wrote.. i think.. It goes great as the CSI:New York theme tune as i think it describes the characters in the programme and New York in general.
Baba O'Riley | Reviewer: Miguel Sanchez | 8/26/10
In all honesty, Baba O'Riley was rather obscure cunsidering the other great songs The Who have done. When CSI New York made it their theme song, it's now heard almost everywhere from football games to ice hocky. Now please don't think I"m putting this song down because I'm not. I grew up listening to them and their music is near and dear to my heart.
Just goes to show what a TV show can do for a song.
I would have done it differently | Reviewer: J.J. | 5/3/10
When CSI started with Who Are You I was ecstatic. When the newer version hit the TV with Won't Get Fooled Again I was elated. The three most widely recognized Who hits are those two and Baba O'Riley. When I heard a third CSI was in the works, I just knew that Baba O'Riley had to be the theme. I was right, but not as I had imagined. Then after a couple(?) seasons they altered the theme slightly but still not how I would have made it. I was sure that they would use the lyric "They're All Wasted!" I don't know if that was the kind of wasted that Pete and the boys were referring to, (it could mean misused or really stoned) but the show is about dead people, right? Murder victims? "They're All Wasted!" seemed appropriate. Maybe the right TV producer will read this. I like the show, but I could love it.
Amazing Sound | Reviewer: nando | 3/17/10
I always heard about Who's, im From Venezuela, english isnt my original leanguish, but i will try to do my best given my best oppinion.. By the time 70´s i though that Band had a advanced music criteria, we have to rescue the Rebel esence of the Rock, that lyrics are simply Anti-System !! Anarchy and hippie times Again.. against washed brains !! ty .. from Venezuela.
Bravo !!!!!! | Reviewer: vicky | 10/4/09

Money not 'wasted' | Reviewer: Cass | 10/2/09
I recently bought the album Who's Next and Baba O'Riley is the first track. I heard this track a short while ago as the theme music to CSI New York and had to get it. I got it on Amazon for the grand some of £3.68 including P&P. Brilliant. I now have it as my cell phone ring tone, on my computer, and my MP3.
It should only be heard with the volume set to max in my opinion. There's a short piece in it where it's just the electric guitar playing and it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck! This trcak is,in my opinion one of the greatest examples of stadium rock ever.
For Erin | Reviewer: Max | 10/1/09
Erin, the young population as a whole has been misled on the meaning of that word. They don't mean it as to be homophobic, they don't even know the meaning of the word. They only use it as a term of disgust for people because that is what they have been led to believe it is.I have firsthand experience on that, as I am only 14 myself. I hope you understand.
Don't mix the Who with Football | Reviewer: Callme Lennie | 9/30/09
Where were you in '72. I was inhigh school and all we did was listen to "Who's next" We were Irish Catholic kids so Baba O'Reilly was our tribal anthem. I remember this song was played right before we went out to play for the football Championship for the state of Arizona
Turned out to be an unwise choice because "out there on the field, we fought for our meal" and our opponent "ate our lunch" They most definitely "put out our fire" and turned our offense into a "Teenage Wasteland" We were shut out and held to four first downs. But after the game "Sally took my hand, and we traveled south crossland" if ya know what I mean. Look at the time. I guess the "Exodus is near" TTFN
