Zebra Lyrics
Artist(Band):John Butler Trio
Review The Song (16)Print the Lyrics
I can be loud man, I can be silent.
I could be young man or I could be old.
I can be a gentleman or I can be violent.
I could turn hot yeah or I can be cold.
I could be just like the calm before the storm boy,
Waiting for all hell yeah to break loose.
I could be innocent or I could be guilty.
Doesn’t mean that I don't believe in the news.

So I’m singin’ ....la da da di da budom
budom la da da di di bi boa bi boa {repeat}

play that funky hip hop(trio solo)

(african beat)

I could be rich like a wandering Gypsy.
I could be poor like a fat wallet lost.
I could be first man or I could come last.
It's not who breaks the ribbon boy it’s how you get across.
I could be red, blue, black and white,
Sunset darkest at day boy, brightest at night.
I could be the sun boy or I could be the moon.
I'm made up from the stars boy I'm shining so bright.

So I’m singin’ ....

I could be asleep boy, or I could be awake.
I can be alive man or be the walking dead.
I can be ignorant or I could be informed. (Yes sir)
I could lead my life man or I could be led. (That's right)
I can be anything I put my mind to boy,
All I gotta do is give myself a half a chance.
I could bring love back into my life.
Share it with the world if I got some balance.

A terrific song, and if that's the only one you know by JBT, please open up your minds and find some new stuff - the messages are amazing all the way through. Some of my favourites are Peaches & Cream, Groovin' Slowly, and Used to Get High.

To correct nozar, and one of the Anonymous posts, this song is definitely not reggae. It doesn't follow reggae flow, the beat is quite definitely not reggae, and the instrumentation is lacking for it to fit into the reggae category. They do play a few reggae tunes, and the topics that Butler writes about are very much akin to the Rastafari ethos, but this is not a reggae song, and they are probably closer to modern bluegrass, or even funk, than they are to reggae. I would classify them as Jam Band, meaning that they don't really fit any particular genre, blending a whole lot of amazing influences.

Don't forget to buy the album - support the artists that you love!!!!!

This song is awesome! The first reggae song I liked.

Oh, and the person who said this song has no meaning is too stupid to understand it.
