Yes Lyrics

Far and away the longest lasting and the most successful of
the 1970s' progressive rock groups, Yes has proved one of
the lingering success stories from that musical genre. The
band, founded in 1968, has overcome a generational shift in
its audience and the departure of its most visible members
at key points in its history to reach the end of the
century as the definitive progressive rock band.

Where rivals such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer withered away
commercially after the mid-'70s, and Genesis and King
Crimson altered their sounds More...

Review about Yes songs
Magnification | Reviewer: John.
------ About the song Magnification performed by Yes

One of their better songs, although all are really great. This song has good lyrics and meaning, singing, and fantastic musicians. Chris squire is on of the best bass players next to Paul McCartney and Peter Cetera. Jon has a very unique voice and remembers all the words of all the songs! The drumming in so precise and Alan loves what he does. Guitars by Steve Howe is unmatched. Wakeman is extremely talented as always. Great song. The DVD of symphonic songs is definitely worth viewing many times over.

------ About the song Starship Trooper performed by Yes

I've only just recently learned of Yes and I have to say... Their music is the best hands down, from the deep chorus to the soulful keys, it is magically woven with a bright hand. My favorite songs are Starship Trooper (the Keys to Ascention version for that divine keyboard solo), I've Seen All Good People, South Side of the Sky, Heart of the Sunrise, We Have Heaven, and of course Owner of a Lonely Heart! I am deeply greatful for their combined musical talent, this is what music wishes it can become! :D

THANK You YES !! | Reviewer: Mark J. Fisher
------ About the song Siberian Khatru performed by Yes

I was able to see the band live at the Miami Jai Alai Fronton on Thanksgiving Day 1974. This was their first tour without Rick Wakeman, but Patrick Moraz did a great job with the music which is quite complex, and he did not have a long time to become familiar with all the songs that they would be performing.

Even 40 years later, I still find that this band and their music are able to inspire me, and if I am depressed (which I am somewhat often over the loss of my son) their sonic artistry and meaningful lyrics are a GREAT help to me.

A Modern Masterpiece | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Close To The Edge performed by Yes

This is the seminal composition of the original (and still considered the strongest)line up of the British progressive rock band, Yes. The suite is based upon the book "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse and explores the ideas and themes Hesse presented in is novelized life of the Buddha.
The lyricism of Anderson, the virtuosity of How, Bruford, Squire and Wakeman combined to make the "Close to the Edge" suite a masterpiece that long outlives it's "pop chart" success in the 1970s. In Close to the Edge, and the ancillary works contained on the album: (ex> "Siberian Khatru" "And You and I") one can hear the genesis of the many compositions the individual members of Yes created during the succeeding 40 years of their creative lives.
"Close to the Edge" id still performed by the individual current as well as byline-up of the band in concert; and attempted with varying levels of success by other musicians in other contexts.

Great Song | Reviewer: Easy in my Chair
------ About the song Heart Of The Sunrise performed by Yes

I recently started reading the Dune series while at the same time discovering Yes. This song holds so much meaning to me now as it is linked with the world I created when reading Dune. This song would come on and the visual imagery became sharper and magnified. The line, "Dreamer easy in the chair that really fits you.." really resonates with me. The music lends itself to imaginative pondering and when reading Dune, or any fantasy/sci-fi book for that matter, the world created by the text becomes interwoven with the imagery that is present in the song. I've always appreciated the ability of Yes to create songs that allow for personal reflection and meaning; rather than the song being a vehicle for a specific message that the composer wishes to convey. Additionally, the instrumentation of the band is a huge selling point.. the playing oftentimes holds more meaning and message than the words sung. A lot of people I come in contact with fail to appreciate musicianship and songs with an extended length due to instrumental parts. I feel as if this world of instant gratification has distorted our ability to appreciate the journey that a song can take us on.

Well it is very late, and what I've written may not be as coherent as I intended it to be. I will now conclude this story and rant by saying that this song holds a lot of meaning to me and I appreciate the band Yes for their contribution to my life.

------ About the song In The Presence Of performed by Yes

Loved the concert shown from Amsterdam on Direct TV, ION concert series. Does anyone know if that performance can be purchased on DVD, and if the song, "In the presence of..." is of the same quality as the DVD concert? Love Yes, and have since 69... Amazing artists, such vision....
Thanks, Terri

------ About the song Release, Release performed by Yes

YES strikes this track up with the typical strong lineup, it's usually had over the years. Chris Squire plays some thunderous riffs with his Rickenbacker bass, as Jon Anderson adds such melodic temperal vocals to a march of seemingly "Anarchism". YES will always remain one of those bands that never disappoint, and always deliver awesome music!

------ About the song Roundabout performed by Yes

This band is one of the best I've heard. Some of you new listeners are new to progressive rock, and let me tell you, don't bother trying to find a meaning in the lyrics. Progressive rock tells a story. SOME bands do include a meaning in their songs, but you really have to listen to the tone and the song itself. I am under the age of 15, yet i love this band to death. Another great band to listen to is Genesis, years 1972-75, which is where Peter Gabriel leaves the band. PInk Floyd is progressive as well by the way.

Yes - The holy men of Progressive Rock | Reviewer: James Anthony Duckling
------ About the song Wonderous Stories performed by Yes

Yes have never had the accolade that they should have. They are one of the oldest "Groups" (Yes I know that they have split and reformed alot) and their music is still in the same trend as when they started. Indeed Jon Anderson's voice is superb. Chris Squire on Bass, Alan White on Drums, Steve Howe on Rythm and Trevor Rabin on lead and RICK WAKEMAN on keyboard are my ideal Yes
