Yazoo Lyrics

There was a time when pop music didn't immediately mean
identikit boy/girl bands singing close harmonies to an
interchangeable backing. The early 80's saw a resurgence in
the quest for perfect pop which was based as much on
experimentation and the perfect beat as it was on the
memorable hookline. Cheeky smiles and knowing winks simply
weren't enough to stake a claim in the hearts of the
nation.

As founder member and main songwriter for Depeche Mode,
Vince Clarke had already made his mark with such classic
pop songs as "New Life" More...

------ About the song Only You performed by Yazoo

I was 13 when the original came out. I would sing it all day long. Then when I had my daughter, this was the only song that would put her to sleep when I sang it to her. Now she is 9 years old and I let her hear the real song and she laid her head on my shoulder and fell asleep.....This song invokes such a deep love in me and it always will.

------ About the song Only You performed by Yazoo

I heard this song from the movie "Can't hardly wait" some years back and liked it but didn't know the singer..... Last year I happen to have the smokie's version and now I finally know the original performer. This is great!

In the The Elephant pub,St.Nicholas Street, Bristol, late 1990's. The Dame Edna Experience was entertaining on a Sunday afternoon. A pub full of gay men sang from memory and with feeling the first verse.

We gave the song meaning based on our experiences of longing and celebration. Many gay men had died from AIDS I think of those who died, especially those who died alone.

Let's not forget Vince... | Reviewer: SynthMinx
------ About the song Nobody's Diary performed by Yazoo

Vince Clarke is one of THE true synth wizards. producing amazing hits time after time, such as 'Just can't get enough' with Depeche Mode, countless Erasure hits, and of course electro classics with Yazoo.
As a electronic/synth producer myself, I find his own creations of stunning synthesized bass lines, arpeggios & drum sequences mind blowing.
I will always look up to this guy, and joined with Alison Moyet, their sound is truely inspiring.

It such a beautiful song, reminds me of a special moment that I had with someone so special in my life that I will never know if I can be with again, I just wish I could have another day, but behind closed doors it was the touch of his hand, I will love him forever.

------ About the song Nobody's Diary performed by Yazoo

Alison Moyet is a true Diva gifted with such understanding of the words she sings that to copy or dreaming to be The singer she is would be nothing short but truly dangerous. Alison is a Prime time Lioness with a butterfly heart, she is a pure liquid diament one cant touch.."

Genius | Reviewer: Namhodyalp
------ About the song Only You performed by Yazoo

Vince Clarke was a musical genius in the field of simple yet beautiful electronica - look at his CV: Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure.

This is one of his best and, despite her "not pop star" looks, Alison Moyet was and still is a fantastic singer, and puts most "pop stars" today to shame.

Bring back the 80s - all is forgiven!

A Secret Love | Reviewer: Lee
------ About the song Only You performed by Yazoo

This is a song that almost hurts me when I hear it as it makes me think of a certain girl I love - my best friend - who I'll probably never get to be with. A lovely song.

Right for any situation | Reviewer: Loopytunes
------ About the song Situation performed by Yazoo

Originally on the B side (yes, remember the old 45s!) of Only You and released mid eighties. This little gem stands the test of time, a testament to its brazen synths and electronic mastery. Vince Clarke takes a simple hook and plays it again with vivid determination. This will always remain as a once hidden treasure that shuffles its way without apology into my ipod playlists. Bring it on and keep it going. Only you forever whatever the situation.
