Natalie Imbruglia Wrong Impression Lyrics

Last updated: 08/07/2011 11:00:00 AM

Calling out, calling out
Haven't you wondered
Why I'm always alone
When you're in my dreams
Calling out, calling out
Haven't you wondered
Why you're finding it hard
Just looking at me

I want you
But I want you to understand
I need you
I love you

Didn't want to leave you
With the wrong impression
Didn't want to leave you
With my last confession
(Yeah) Of love
Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction
All I wanna do is try to
Make a connection
(Yeah) Of love
(Yeah, yeah ooh)

Falling out, falling out
Have you ever wondered
If this was ever more
Than a crazy idea
Falling out, falling out
Have you ever wondered
What we could've been
If you'd only let me in

I want you
But I want you to understand
I miss you
I love you

Didn't want to leave you
With the wrong impression
Didn't want to leave you
With my last confession
(Yeah) Of love
Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction
All I wanna do is try to
Make a connection
(Yeah)Of love
Have you ever wondered
(Yeah, yeah...ooh)

I need you
I love you

Didn't want to leave you
With the wrong impression
Didn't want to leave you
With my last confession
(Yeah) Of love
Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction
All I wanna do is try to
Make a connection
(Yeah) Of love

I didn't want to leave you
With the wrong impression
Didn't want to leave you
With my last confession
(Yeah) Of love
Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction
All I wanna do is try to
Make a connection
(Yeah) Of love

I didn't want to leave you there (I'm calling out)

Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction - but I'm calling out (Yeah, yeah)
Wasn't trying to pull you
In the wrong direction - but I'm falling out (Yeah...)

Great song | Reviewer: jrb | 8/6/11

This is a great song. Yes, it is reminiscent of the Sundays, but that it is okay. She was quoted as being a Sundays fan at about the time the album came out. I am a big Sundays fan, but I like this song a lot too.

I am sorry, this website was made for lyrics, not for bashing, yeah?

If you don't like the song, it's okay, but if you DESPISE it, why comment the lyrics? Immature much? Such posts are made for forums.

Natalie never pretended this to be 100% original. Who knows, she might a great fan of The Sundays, too. She has a lovely voice, she certainly didn't steal that.

Why don't you people go back and listen to The Sundays and stop pretending everyone is here to steal everything from every band. Natalie's song doesn't hurt anyone's ears. It's nice enough.

It's one thing to include INFLUENCES from other bands in your music, like a tip of the hat to your heros.

It's quite something else to record a song which 100%, from top to bottom, is nothing but an amalgam of sounds from another band.

And that is what this ugly second-rate ripoff is.

The song screams nothing but "This is supposed to be the Sundays. I am supposed to be Harriet Wheeler" for 3 minutes and 24 seconds. It's not influenced by the Sundays. It simply out and out IS the Sundays, in everything but the name. Which is the worst affront of all.

Give us more like "The Sundays" | Reviewer: Sheila | 1/22/08

Henrig was a bit tough on her, eh? I just heard this song for the first time today (don't know how I missed it until now!) and had to look it up b/c I'm a big fan of The Sundays and wanted to find out if there were more songs with this sound. If the Sundays won't release any more music then we need to find the sound elsewhere! This is the closest thing I've found.

Show me a musical artist or band that has no influences from anyone, ever, finds no inspiration in any other music, and invented their style completely on their own with no elements in common whatsoever with any other band or genre EVER.. and I'll show you a band that doesn't exist..

The Sundays | Reviewer: Ronnie | 5/22/07

... Well, when i first heard "wrong impression", I thought it was The Sundays as well. But then I thought, maybe It could be Sixpence None the Richer. Finaly I had to go online and try to find who sang it. So i went to type in some of the lyrics to find who, and here we are.. Good song.

Don't get the "Wrong Impression"!! | Reviewer: henrig | 4/23/07

Gee Natalie, who can you plagiarise from? You haven't had a big hit since "Torn" so lets see who we can ripoff and not get caught eh? Hey, I know who! There was this brilliant but little known English band called The Sundays. Lets try and get you to sound like Harriet Wheeler. Ok, next lets add a Sundays bassline, you know.....that distinctive lead/bass riff sound. Hey now we've got something. Add a swirling lead guitar riff pattern and a tight strumming rhythm guitar and off beat drum pattern....Ramp up the speed to dance frenzy..hey whatta sound! Copy the melodic lyricism of "I feel" from the Blind album, "My Finest Hour" from Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, top it off with "Summertime" from Static & Silence....mix it all together. I just hope people don't get the wrong impression about what we're trying to achieve here! Is there anyone thats heard of The Sundays? Naaah...Brilliant Natalie has a new hit and thats all that matters isn't it? ...next we'll do a great follow up called "Integrity"!!
