Wonder Lyrics
Performed by Natalie MerchantReview The Song (4)
Doctors have come from distant cities
Just to see me
Stand over my bed
Disbelieving what they're seeing
They say I must be one of the wonders
Of god's own creation
And as far as they can see they can offer
No explanation
Newspapers ask intimate questions
Want confessions
They reach into my head
To steal the glory of my story
They say I must be one of the wonders
Of god's own creation
And as far as they can see they can offer
No explanation
O, I believe
Fate smiled and destiny
Laughed as she came to my cradle
Know this child will be able
Laughed as my body she lifted
Know this child will be gifted
With love, with patience and with faith
She'll make her way
People see me
I'm a challenge to your balance
I'm over your heads
How I confound you and astound you
To know I must be one of the wonders
Of god's own creation
And as far as you can see you can offer me
No explanation
O, I believe
Fate smiled and destiny
Laughed as she came to my cradle
Know this child will be able
Laughed as she came to my mother
Know this child will not suffer
Laughed as my body she lifted
Know this child will be gifted
With love, with patience and with faith
She'll make her way

Natalie you mean soo much to me and my daughter. She just saw you in Washington Oregan. I am about to see you in Broward County on the 25th of Aug. We were born and raised in Jamestown NY where you were. My daughter had spinal meningitis @ birth and almost passed away. She was hospitalized for 8 weeks. in critical condition. She and her brothers were raised on your songs. I sang them and played them often in our home. She saw you in concert in Chautauqua Inst. @ age 9 and it really meant alot to her. Your song Wonder. Got us through the years of surgeries she had to endure. She is a survivor. And you music lives on in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Can't wait to see you on the 25th.. Love you Natalie. By the way.. I am good friends with Paul Liuzzo. I saw you practice in a basement before you became so famous. xoxox

this song reminds me so much of my daughter because she was born hearing impaired and everyone thought that she wouldn't be able to make it on her own, and she is doing better than anyone else i know, she is 19 and going to college to become an elementary school teacher, i count not be anymore proud of her. she is a true inspiration for every person with a disability out there
Thank you for your gift Natalie | Reviewer: Cheryl Angenent | 12/1/08
In aug/sept(?) 1989, Natalie Merchant came to my hospital bed, and sang me a song. She told me that with love patience and with faith, I would make my way. 19 years later, I have made my way, and it is because the words of wonder were programmed into my head, and Natalie's message kept me going. I have suffered, but fate and destiny are now mine. Thank You so much Natalie.
