Wings For Marie (Pt. 1) Lyrics - Tool
Review The Song (3)
You believed in moments not conceived
You believed in me
A passionate spirit
Without us in your heart
A light in your eyes that
Ends all lies
Fell at the hands of
Those moments that I wouldn't see
It was you, who prayed for me so,
What have I done to be a son to an angel
What have I done to be worthy
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight
She never told a lie
Well might have told a lie
But never lived one
Didn't have a life
Didn't have a life
But surely saved one
See? I'm alright now it's time for us to let you go

The story behind 10,000 Days | Reviewer: Tool Tribute Band | 5/11/12
I love Tool. "Wings For Marie" was the first part in the 10,000 Days masterpiece. It was dedicated to his departed mother, Judith Marie. The second part, "10,000 Days," was how long she suffered being paralyzed (from the waist down I think). Marie was highly religous, and Maynard was upset how someone so religous could suffer through so much, 27 years she was paralyzed until she passed away. Such an amazing song!
On Another Level | Reviewer: Daniel | 7/31/08
To me, TOOL is what would happen if Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, & Mozart had an orgy. With complex, layered, melodic & powerful music accompanying Maynard's harmonious and animalistic voice, belting out thought-provoking, often personally-significant & deeply meaningful lyrics, this band is the class of not just metal, but all modern day music makers. I'd love to spend a day w/ MJK, just debating and discussing life, society and recreation. If you're even remotely into rock & don't like TOOL, you have to be either ignorant, unintelligent or incapable of understanding what they're putting out there. It's on another level.
I know the feeling | Reviewer: tan sallee | 2/27/07
As im sure all hardcore tool fans know by now that this song is about Maynards mother judith passing away. I beleive that the feeling of this song is heart wrenching and ultimately a sweet ode to his mother. The music fits perfectly and depending on how you look at it it can be one of the darkest or happiest tracks of the album.
