Why? Lyrics
Performed by Tracy ChapmanReview The Song (6)
Why do the babies starve
When there's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe
When she's in her home
Love is hate
War is peace
No is yes
And we're all free
But somebody's gonna have to answer
The time is coming soon
Admidst all these questions and contradictions
There're some who seek the truth
Tell me Why do the babies starve
When there's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe
When she's in her home
Love is hate
War is peace
No is yes
And we're all free
But somebody's gonna have to answer
The time is coming soon
When the blind remove their blinders
And the speechless speak the truth
Tell me Why do the babies starve
When there's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe
When she's in her home
Love is hate
War is peace
No is yes
And we're all free

I began listening to Tracy at 11 when my late Mum got me a copy of her 1989 certified platinum crossroads album. Now 23 and have never spent a day without listening to her inspiring sadened emotional voice on record.I always believe and I'm trusting God to meet Her in person before I leave this earth..
a Beautiful Poet | Reviewer: Imani | 9/13/10
I personally think that Tracy Chapman is a good Poet and Signer Her voice add's so much emotion To the song,
I have alway's admire her beauty and talent.
She is a really great artist i would really appreicate it if she would come back to her music
I am really missing her emotional sad VOICE.
IF YOU @liela could start writing in ENGLISH PLEASE.
Reflect the Now! | Reviewer: Leila | 3/30/09
Its very funny that I someone my age and with my background would have so much respect and admire a women so powerfull as Tracy Chapman. Not only thins song but many others that were recorded before i was born reflect the Now. Thats why i think she should come back.. all the the right artist with the right msg is what young adults like myself should be influenced by..instead of how to shake you're ass the same beat!
