When The Children Cry Lyrics - White Lion

Review The Song (35)

little child
dry your crying eyes
how can I explain
the fear you feel inside
cause you were born
into this evil world
where man is killing man
and no one knows just why
what we have become
just look what we have done
all that we destroyed
you must build again

when the children cry
let them know we tried
cause when the children sing
then the new world begins

little child
you must show the way
to a better day
for all the young
cause you were born
for all the world to see
that we all can live
with love and peace
no more presidents
and all the wars will end
one united world
under god

when the children cry
let them know we tried
cause when the children sing
then the new world begins

what we have become
just look what we have done
all that we destroyed
you must build again
no more presidents
and all the wars will end
one united world
under god

when the children cry
let them know we tried
when the children fight
let them know it ain't right
when the children pray
let them know the way
cause when the children sing
then the new world begins

It's an amazing song of an underrated band, still I won't really appreciate the lyrics that mush because I do not believe in God. Although I respect the emotions attached in the lyrics.

My uncle was in Viet Nam, He found this song on a 45 record and gave it to me at 16 yrs. old I fell min love with this song and when Time Life came out with a set that had this song on it I had to get it. I thank my uncle for giving me this song

I was a longhaired rocker when this song came out, I still kinda am, I am also a Father of a very bright 9 year old son. I've always been one to understand lyrics and always liked this song because of the message within, although you can be assured none of my friends knew my secret. If you are a parent, aunt, uncle, cousin with a child old enough to comprehend the words or can understand an explaination from you this is a great tool for instilling that social conscience, just the humanity and compassion that the lyrics make all aware of.

My brother | Reviewer: anonymous | 2/10/12

My brother......he was such a rock fan and he used to play this song all the time i also heard him play it on this guitar.....the way he played the guitar was magical.....he died 1 month ago and when i hear this song it reminds me of him of how he protrayed the world to and how he used to play it al the time......there is no one now to play the guitar at home and things are so bad....my favourite part in this song is when the lead guarist plays his solo......so sound is so.....it has so much meaning even without words.....when ever i hear this song i will always remember hoe my brother used to play it.....RIP big brother.......

I am surprised | Reviewer: Bill | 12/15/11

Uhhh...wow. I am simply shocked at the positive reviews. I grew up in the 80s and this may be one of the worst,wimpy,pandering, songs ever written.Just awful. The Final Countdown may be the only one to top it or maybe that Karate Kid theme song. I Googled it as a joke to send to someone. No offense to anyone who has special memories of this song. That can ceratinly make a difference.

Overcoming Life's challenges | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/11/11

This song is about how the world is evil, how life is unfair. It's about rising above this, drying the tears, taking the hardships and using them to create a better world, a peaceful world. The part about telling the children that we tried is just about how when people try to make society work there's always some kind of hunger for power. People start doing violent things for no reason. The song is trying to pull hope out of the situation. A lion symbolizes strength to me and maybe leadership. Even though the children are enveloped in war they can be strong and lead a new life without violence, they have an opportunity to change what's happening for the better.

You assholes | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/2/11

This song is literally on how people treat their young and how the social world portrays what kids should be. All of you only think of trying to avoid the truth. All of you were probably those rich bastards who's parents bought them everything and none of you cared to even look at the kids that are being tortured by the way you people act. Grow up. He is talking about the people like you who destroy everything and just make the next generation try to fix it. And look where we are now. in turmoil. All of you will burn.

Vietnam | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/18/11

i think, this song was mad, 20 years after veitnam war... because, they just felt bad, we killed there moms, dads, houses, left on the streets... and the kids didn't wanna see that.. but we couldnt do anything. R.I.P all veitnam vets.

A Special Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/17/11

My sister | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/14/11

When I was about 12 years old my sister brought me into her room to listen to this song. She held my hand and sang it to me. On November 5th, 2009 my sister and 12 others were shot and killed by a fellow soldier on American soil at Fort Hood, Texas. We played this song at her funeral and while I said my last goodbyes, it was playing in the background. This song will forever remind me of that day in her room when she held my hand.

My dedication [: | Reviewer: Little mizsunshine | 1/22/11

When I was back in 6th grade, three years ago, my classmates and I had to sing this song infront of the entire school and our parents. We were performing a play called "Valentine's Day" and our teacher has came across some songs for the scenes in the play. She then came to us and told us that we had to sing this song at the end of the play. We all were like "oh no" and stuff. But then I realised why he chose this wry song itself. It was the right time for it. We sang the song in front of al our parents and Frieda that came to watch and support us. What we sang was more of a message to end the wars and stop the fights and just relise that life is worth nothing if you don't enjoy it with whom you love and those who care about you and tell you that you could change the world with those little things that we could make that make others happy. When the children cry is a song of dedication in my opinion. I dedicate it to my one and only lovely teacher Ms Pamela who has thought of us as her own children and told us by this song that the future depends on what we make of life, big and small things. xx

One united world under God | Reviewer: Melinda | 11/21/10

The truth is we all have to admit our failures and teach our children in each generation to cry out to the one who can make a difference in them thereby making a difference in the world. One day in the end of this earth God says Jesus with reign and it will be one united world under God. The question is not what will others do, but will I do. Been inspired by this song since a teen. Now I minister to youth. It breaks my heart but reminds me when we cry out to God He hears and is a very present help in times of trouble.

what we have done? | Reviewer: Leonheart Varrent | 9/26/10

this, is an inspiring song. I forgot when the first time I heard this song. This is quite an old song, it dedicated for our generation. But what we have done? Things don't change better...
We all hear the song, can we make a change? A better one, so our children wouldn't need to cry same prayer as us. So this world wouldn't be called evil world.
A change begin when one take a single step to make the change...
