What I've Done Lyrics - Linkin Park

Review The Song (84)

<!-- start of lyrics -->
In this farewell
There's no blood
There's no alibi
‘Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth
Of a thousand lies

[Pre-Chorus:]
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I've done

[Chorus:]
I'll face myself
To cross out what i've become
Erase myself
And let go of what i've done

Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]

For what I've done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done!!!

[Chorus]

What I've done
Forgiving what I've done
<!-- end of lyrics -->

You poor brainwashed souls. Thinking this song is about something as pointless and time consuming as religion. Imagine what you could do on saturdays if you werent wasting your tine on religion?

Let me tell you what its really about.

In the last few "degenerations", we have driven several species, killed many, ruined our environment, and nobody had any fucks to give. We as a whole have repayed earth for giving us shelter and life by poisoning it.

This song can be taken for either side.... but allow me to ask you? Whats the differance between black and white. This song is about forgivness yes.... but even listening to the lyrics, there is something biblical to it, if you live an un-Godly life you will view it as one way, if you live a Godly life you will see it the opposite. Me, being a 17 y/o Christian, ran across this song thinking it was Christian. Scripture is proven Biblically, Historically, and Scientifically! Nothing else matters, you want proof there it is! As for Atheism, your opinion is your opinion, why bash God?? Atheism alone is backwards, its believing in not believing something, and negative times and positve = a negative. You just crossed yourself! I pray for those of you who arent saved, and I hope this Forgivness in a song that your fighting about, will be given to you by Him! (Christ)

life...think about life | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/26/12

I didnt have time to read all these comments but to tell you something about God and logic,I considered it my duty .I saw some didnt blieve.let me tell you its for the Wrong image you are given, for the illogical things The "changed christianity" gives you .but religion and logic arent against each other.you see all the world ,all the incredible things and even the smallest like a cell, let me tell you something ,how can a mixture of chemicals (the cell,a bacterica or ...) search for food ,reproduce and all ...? waht is connecting the chemicals and giving them a purpose ? why they cant make a chemical mixture exacly like a bacteria and then it BECOMEs a bacteria in lab ? Just think about it ? think about the purpose of life ..why do you live ? if you were to die and become NOTHING as if you were never existed ? thats why I tell you there are things BEYOND the world we see and we sometimes feel it even !

yo dumb*%^# | Reviewer: Arjel | 1/9/12

this is a song it has nothing to do with all that illuminati bull#%^@, or god or religion or any of that. it's a guy singing about stuff he's lost and stuff that has happened in his life. he is not singing "ooohhh the iluminatti are coming woooooh". to josiah and anna all those musicians are not singing woooh come worship satan. though i approve of this.

You guys are getting annoying, this song has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity or religion for that matter, it's about forgiving someone of what they've done, and if u wanna start a fucking debate about, most of the most popular bands have lyricists who are atheists, and go take a 7th grade science class and not fail this time, there's not proof in God, other than your claims in a book that's also not proven to be written by anyone other than another L. Ron Hubbard

go ANON! christianity is one of the strongest reasons for satanity i've ever heard. all the #@$% you guys shout about gays being evil, when your own priests are pedophiles you have no right to spout that bull@!#$. if a dude and a dude want to be together or a gal and a gal or a dude and a gal and a gal or a gal and a dude and a dude etc. want to be together who the Hell cares! unless it's nonconsensual! who in their right minds cares (this obviously excludes most churches). this country (america) supposedly stands for freedom so let people be free!

1. People can and should still say so if they think that this song has to do with God, or that they can relate this song in their religious struggles. They do not post it for you who does not care about what they write, but for those who happen to care.
2. To the Illuminati person. Don't be a fool! You are making yourself out to be one just like the Illuminati( for lack of a better term ) want you to. It's called controlled resistance. Who do you think creates all of this "Illuminati Conspiracy Theory" sites and t.v. shows and stuff. You think you would see them if you did not want to? You think the History Channel would show anything about it if they didn't want you to go around babbling as though some Monkey? Congratulations, you are a part of the Controlled Resistance. Because of your "exposing" of them in the way you do it, you invalidate any warranted suspicion.
3. As for me, this song is a personal experience song, and strongly connected to my religious nature; that is, that side of me which seeks truth. Religion means: To seek. We are all seeking something, and we are all on a journey. In my search for truth, I sought to reconcile my "sins" or my misdeeds. In my search for purpose, I needed to lay down all that which previously invalidated my purpose.

Sigh | Reviewer: Reiko | 5/29/11

I'm just going to say to everyone here that this is a song. It's beautifully written and touching, yes, but the arguing about whether its religious or not isn't important. Once more what the song means is dependent upon your interpretation; I like to believe its about anyone who has ever done wrong and had it haunt them until finally they find relief and freedom from it. I can see how you guys might see it as religious, I grew up Lutheran, but please, keep from arguing interpretations. I doubt God himself cares; that's why he gave us free will, so we could think our own thoughts.

All of all things people on earth doing, is damaging the good creatures God provide human for live. I am so proud to the meaning in this song lyrics. Also I've got no idea for what I've done, but I've got God's mercy to live on earth till the Day of the Lord comes. Use the rest of earth carefully is what we all can do. God blesses.

This song is about all the power the illuminati have and all the destruction that they are doing these things are in our daly life every thing is over ruled by the illuminati get use to it they all ready brainwashed most of the world.

please read all of this!!!!!!!! | Reviewer: josiah | 11/14/10

what are all of you talking about?! 1)any song can be interpeted anyway you want it to be 2) words have meanings put everything together and you should be able to think things out. I am sooo tired of all of this crap! these words could be talking about god or not. some people actually have their music to talk about satian such as lady gaga,jay-z, kanye west, and beyonce. all because of the illuminati. that means they worship satian. i do hope that they will be brought to the truth. actually, they know the truth! they thought god was unjust for the way he judged lucifer. i pray that all the devil worshipers come to the light i pray for them so they know that they are choosing death, not life.choose life! i pray for all of you. god bless!

First song by linkin park ive heard... | Reviewer: Shane | 11/1/10

And it's still great!!!
And why fight!? One thing, I'm Christian and I have nothing wrong with the song!! And it's a belief of a supernatural being that created and controlling life! If your atheist like I am now, apparently, then what does it matter!?

Too close to Scripture | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/21/10

There are parts of these lyrics that are too close to scripture for there not to be any link to Christianity. There is undoubtably an influence of Christianity from some member, or a few, from Linkin Park. Maybe there Christian walk is so strong and sanctified that they aren't even always aware of when they using scripture...? Just a thought.

And @Dazza - Mr "Music should be about the sounds, the lyrics, the voice Not religion, god or messages. Music should stay as MUSIC." And all you other blasphemous reviewers. WHO DO YOU THINK CREATED MUSIC? GOD! WHO DO YOU THINK GOD MADE THE ARCH ANGEL OF MUSIC IN THE HEAVENS? Yep, the one who fell! The fallen angel! And so don't you also think it would be his ploy to deceive you in music? The thing he knows best! To blind you and create in you this apparent "anger" and "image conscious" stand on bands that are famous and perceived as "cool to the fans" / popular, using Christian scripture.

If anything Linkin Park are the voice in a sea of deception. A little hope in this world that can have a big difference. Or even if it is just a review on a blog spot from one of billions of internet sites.

As a Christian it makes me a little upset that so many ppl on here wrote negative things about God and about the song being about him. If u don't believe in God how do you think u got here and how do we have air to breathe eyes to see a mouth to eat and taste. God gave u life and he gives u everyday and every breath u take. All he asks is for u to love him.

Why do song always have to be religious! | Reviewer: DazzA | 7/6/10

Why do songs always have to be religious, it is the person's view of music but i believe that their is religious music and just music. They are two different types of music.Everyone has there own ideas or views of music but i believe that music can be about anything,( war, god, love, valleys, etc...) yes some songs have messages in them but most of them aren't religious..... Music should be about the sounds, the lyrics, the voice Not religion, god or messages. Music should stay as MUSIC.

I am annoyed.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/6/10

.. that every religious fan assumes a song has to be about God. You don't need faith in some superior being because you hope he'll give you eternal happiness after death to live a good life. It's like when people prayer before consuming a meal, god didn't magically place the food upon your table, you got it however you managed too and that credit belongs to YOU. You say he allows us free will and does not interfere with our lives, so why do you thank him for things he had no part of? I know that wherever I go with my life from this point on was my doing, not anyone else. The song for me simply means it's never too let to let go and move on to become a better person for yourself, not God, not Jesus, not anyone. For you.
