What's up Lyrics - 4 Non Blondes

Review The Song (15)

What's Up?

25 years of my life and still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination.
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made for this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I'm feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step
Outside and I take deep breath
And I get real high
And I scream to the top of my lungs
What's goin' on?

And I say hey-yeah-yeah-yeah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on
And I say hey-yeah-yea-eah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on

Oooh, oo! ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Oo-ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo
Oooh! ooo-aah-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Oo-ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo Whats up?

And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For revolution

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I, I'm feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step
Outside and I take deep breath
And I get real high
And I scream to the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I say hey-yeah-yea-eah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on
And I say hey-yeah-yea-eah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on

And I say hey-yeah-yea-eah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on
And I say hey-yeah-yea-eah, hey yea yea
I say hey! what's goin' on
Oooh, oo! ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Oo-ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo-ahh-haa

25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
Oo-ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo

It's a okay tune that sticks in your head because of its simple style. I am not saying it's a bad song so you overly sensitive lesbian fascists just chill the freak out! In fact the lyrics don't say much about promoting anything but a persons personal feelings. I am sick of groups claiming songs as their anthems. Grow up and get a job or at least get a life. Grow a garden.

Keith Evans you are a misandrist.

What's up is what's up! | Reviewer: Keith Evans | 12/25/12

This song is powerful and beautiful and simple to understand. If you miss the point then I feel badly for you. 25 years and same old shit. Linda Perry is simply showing more than just a bit of frustration over a world dominated by stupid men. Her music is a peaceful demonstration against the same old shit.

A Contempory 2011 Song Of Global Policical Problems With A Classic Rock/Folk Retro 60's Message Of..... | Reviewer: ms_sovereign_tee (penyt) | 1/12/12

...."Hope...and Revolution"
Yes I'm A Baby Boomer. This Song And It's Lyrics By These Fantastic Young Women Is A Work Of True Artistry Mixed With A Voice Representative Of The People And A Call To Wake Up,THINK And Then Shout Out "HEY! WHAT'S GOIN ON?". Definitely A Message Here So Culturally And Unifying In It's Nature Very Much Like In The Late 60's To Early 70's And The Likes Of Bob Dylan,Joan Baez,And So Many Others I Can't Begin To Name. When I First Heard It On The Radio As I Was Driving In My Car That Night,It Immediately Caught My Attention And My Soul.I Hadn't Heard Anything Like It Or Since Other Than Those Times When The Answers Were In The Music Back In The Day.Music Then Just Like This Song Had A Real Message,It Speaks Out To The Citizens To Wake Up,Get Up And Scream At The Top Of Our Lungs And Demand Our Politicians ,Government Officials,Global Corprotocracy,And The Neo- World Order Of Dis-United States Of America Truth And Transparency. Really If You Are Over 45 Then I Think (and I Mean Think) You'll Agree That This Is A Price Of Original Genuine Pop Culture With A Revolutionary Message For Liberty And Justice For All .....Again Here And Now...Great Work Girls...Keep It Up We The People Are Beginning To Get It.... Thank You..Just My View And Opinion. No Need For Debate Make Love Not War.Peace And Namaste.

PLAGIARISM???? | Reviewer: Balangone | 11/9/11

great great song! have y'all ever realized that the intro verse of this song is almost similar to Lady Gaga's You and I intro? listen to both songs and pay attention to the chord progression and the notes that are sung!

This song is funny, strange & awesome so for all you haters out there obviously you have nothing to do with your life other than sit around hating on good original music, so i suggest that you stop sitting on your lazy asses and get a life instead of leaving dumbass comments about not liking the song becase if you dont like the song you dont have to do some stupid ass thing like looking up the song.

uhhh!! your all a bunch of dumbasses | Reviewer: charles jackson | 12/8/10

If any of you can't give respect to this song where it's due then your obviously naive and stupid! This is quite possibly one of the greatest songs ever written! I'm pretty sure that anyone that disagree have probably never written a song in there whole pathetic life. So that being said thank you 4 non blonds for blessing us all with this wonderful song and for the rest of you....kiss my ass!

True power | Reviewer: Ariel | 4/22/09

This girl is not afraid of saying what she feels, even if you homophopic dumb asses cant get that that out of this. Just listen to her! She is a very powerful woman! more people need to be like her and not let low life people tell them they are wrong.

This is one of the most powerful songs of the 90s' | Reviewer: Ryan | 4/16/09

You guys think that just cuz Linda Perry doesn't flat out tell you what she's singing about, then it's not empowering or it's not revolutionary. Has it ever occured to ANY of you that music is free to interpretation? If someone hears it and it they feel it's empowering to women and/or same-sex marriage, then they're allowed to think that. And Linda Perry has written groundbreaking hits for Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani, and Alicia Keys. Not bad for a "pseudo coffee shop hippie drizzle" now is it?

REALIZATION OF THE WEAK | Reviewer: Stephanie | 12/13/08

This song is one of the best songs to sing at a karaoke bar and is bound to get people hyped up and jumping off of their seats. For those who put down this song I feel sorry for you because you have no sense in music and what music represents. So for Scott and Lemmy, I suggest that you GET UP TO WHAT'S UP!

fluff and nothing more | Reviewer: Scott | 9/3/08

"Empowering to women everywhere"??? WTF?
EXACTLY where in this song to find a reference to lesbian marriage? what a pathetic attempt at promoting your own political/social agenda, and co-opting what was never a very good song into the bargain.
I hope your "revolution" stays on peoples minds longer than the song did,lol

revloution | Reviewer: proud listener | 7/25/08

I find this song empowering to women everywhere. It makes us feel like we should never give up hope and hope for the revolution. If men and women can be together why not to women who love each other. Why the hell not

Big stinking pile of crap.... | Reviewer: Lemmy | 9/11/07

The single worst "song" of the 90's- I've got a nose ring, dreadlocks, and tattoos- am I trendy enough?! Absolute shite and as bad as any pseudo coffee shop hippie drizzle ever recorded.
