(What's So Funny 'Bout)Peace, Love And Understanding Lyrics - Elvis Costello

Review The Song (7)

written by Nick Lowe

As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.

I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

And as I walked on
Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong
And who are the trusted?

And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

Passion is his name | Reviewer: Rodrigo | 7/2/08

Like many other Costello's songs this one is also capable of thrilling us for all different reasons, for instance I too almost cried watching Bill Murray singing it on Lost in Translation, really awesome scene. However, what draws my attention the most is not the lyric itself but rather his passionate way of singing. Beautiful.

I heard this song when I was Watching Bones and got addicted to it! This is the best song I've ever heard! I also cry when I hear it. It really makes you think about things that are going on in the world all around us that we never even take the smallest amount of time to notice. Pure genius!!!

Got turned onto the song through aol sessions cris cornell video of him singing this song ( Google it). What a great song. It feels very fitting for these times. I suspect all times have troubled times.

Isn't this simply the best? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/10/05

How does a song like this bring tears to my eyes each time I hear it? It isn't sad (unless you think about the situation in Iraq, Darfur, and tens of other places). Nonetheless, this song grabs you by the throat and shakes you.
