I like the song, and yes it can be considered both pop music and alternative rock. Weezer is primarily an alternative rock band. pop music is now considered its own genre (since derived from rock n roll the 1950s ) and no longer has the same meaning as popular music. it does have a more broad definition than some genres, but it is in fact, its own genre.

Just got back a concert in Perth, Western Australia.
Have to say one of the big tings I was looking forward to was Buddy Holly, unfortunately they played it a bit too rock for my liking (not true to the original) but at the end of the day, they wrote and performed the original. Still loved it though.

weezer is my favorite one.. very polite lyrics & 'fun' melody. everytime i hear their song, it turns me back to 90's, school time.... accompanied by weezer song everywhere it sounds 'cool' for me :), every songs in blue album & pinkerton is Rockin' and awesome. This is one of those Weezer songs that really makes you think, what were they thinking when they left this off the album.
This song owns pretty much every actual official song on their actual album. Well maybe except Island In The Sun and Hash Pipe and Photograph. But all the other songs are owned by this one. Sugar booger is an authentic,compelling,adroit,amazing,clever,skillful,and fantastic song that is possibly one of the best extended plays I've ever heard. Sure the lyrics are a bit corky and laughable, but that adds more joy to it.

Amazing song, great lyrics, simple, and POPular. People should understand that pop just means the song is popular and is listened to a lot. Pop is not music genre. So comparing Weezer to someone (thing my opinion) like lady gaga wouldt make since because there different music genres.
Anyways weezer is an amazing band and could be compared with nirvana's song writing skills since the music is simple yet artfull. Buddy holly and hash pipe are still my favorites by weezer.

I always loved this song. To me, I thought it was about how chasing dreams and romance was more intoxicating than the actual reality of what you thought you wanted. Once you've possessed your dream it withers away. Sad, but maybe true.

I recently read the book, The Collector, by John Fowles, which was written long before the song. It was so clear this song was written as commentary on the novel. I almost fell off my chair.

I appreciate this song on many levels.

I know it's supposed to be a fun song (I think), but when he talks about the wheel locking up and nearly killing them all, I think back to my own roll-over car accident; idk how we all walked out of that one (though I didn't walk out, so much as I was carried out strapped to a gurney kicking and screaming before being sedated and airlifted) but my passengers were uninjured and I got some glass in my arm, we were soooo lucky. When he sings that they should've died a long time ago, I just feel like he wrote this song about my life.

I loved this sweet, happy song when it first came out. It felt so lighthearted. A few months later, 9-11 happened and the song started to sound wistful and nostalgic to me, yet always remained among my favorite songs to play and to play on guitar. The Spike Jonze video makes it feel light and sweet again.
