you guys do know that this song is about erectile dysfunction, right? The lyrics make it sound like a sad love song but it's actually a huge metaphor for not being able to get it up...read the lyrics...it'll make sense.

What Weezer reminds me of, once Ive thought about it, is a more polished commercial version of the Dead Milkmen. They have kinda fallen into novelty act status, like They Might Be Giants, Ween, Cake, Tenacious D and Flight of The Conchords...not as extreme novelty as some, but they do have that vibe...and you know what? I love all those bands!

------ About the song Buddy Holly performed by Weezer
Apparently so-called 'childish sounds' have been doing wonders in music, because yeah yeah's and woo-ooh's have been working forever in popular music.
If the beatles were doing it wrong with these, I don't think they'd have done nearly as well as they did.
Kudos to weezer for taking a leaf from the decades past and making a great song.

How can i swing when she doesn't want me to. she's afraid of getting hurt and i cannot allow that to happen... "I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain- G.N.R" i adore her way to much to hurt her and she knows that, but what can i do...

------ About the song Beverly Hills performed by Weezer
This is a "POP" song. By definition that means it is popular not good. Sometimes they can be both... but mostly pop music is appealing to those who have no idea what music is but want a catchy singable melody to hum in the car. They probably wrote this song in less than a day. It has a total of THREE cords! If you can write a song in a day, it is not a "good" song.

------ About the song Hash Pipe performed by Weezer
My first impression of the song was that is was about someone who didnt care about working in corporate america but would rather smoke hash. Oddly enough, this person would rather sell his ass on the street than his soul to corporate america for money.
The line big G's sounds like big cheese as in "youve got your big cheese (good job)but ive got my hash pipe"

------ About the song Say It Ain't So performed by Weezer
In an interview a couple years back Rivers talked about the meaning of this song. His real dad started drinking more right before he divorced Rivers' mom. A couple years later when Rivers was 16 he got home from school and saw his step-dad's (Steven) Heineken in the fridge and got freaked out because the last time beer was in the fridge his parents got divorced. He is trying to distract himself with TV or wrestling with his brother (Leaves Cuomo went by Jimmy, Rivers went by Peter as in Peter Criss of Kiss) and yet behind his back the problem is still there. The chorus and the next verse are self explanatory, and the bridge is just Rivers reaching out to his father about his anxiety.
Like father, step-father, the son is drowning in the flood
This is just a comparison of his two dads and how he is being suffocated by the alcoholism of those around him. Funny enough, Rivers asked him mom several years later about his biological dad's drinking in relation to the divorce, and it had absolutely nothing to do with it.

It is kind of funny how a lot of people know so little about Opera.
Weezer's album 'Pinkerton' was a fairly overt reference to the famous Opera: 'Madame Butterfly' which follows the story of a US soldier in WWII who breaks the heart of, and abandons his Japanese fling when he returns to his home. This song basically summarizes it with a few other bits thrown in to make it more original.
Nice song (sounds terrible when sung unless you have a good range), but is often misinterpreted (I'm looking at you--the guy who thought the song was about rape)
i think it could be any of those or perhaps all of them. it seems to me something having to do with "you can kick my ass but i still have my hash pipe" as in you can not like me you can hurt me i can just get high and life goes on i don't know about the prostitution there aren't many people doing THAT just for hash its not physically addictive it can be psychologically addictive though but i mean that be like prostituting yourself for weed and thats probably very rare. hash or hashish is from weed its just somewhat stronger. now if they had said 'crack pipe' i would be more likely that there talking about prostitution

Well. In his book. Hey Nietzsche leave them kids alone. He talks about this particular song. As Rivers confession himself and his flings etc. But to be honest. I think it's best that everyone has their own interpretation. Weezer is amazing. :3

------ About the song Hash Pipe performed by Weezer
from what i see this is weezer not talking about drug dealers or anything of that nature or addiction. but he is talking about how everyone has something and no matter what happens in life he has his pipe to get high by smoking weed and or hash. he doesn't give a fuck if you like him or not cuz life goes on. if any of you even know what hash is it's a schedule 2 drug in the ranks of coke and such. Sounds scary but hash is simply just a concentrated and high dose of that special chemical that makes us love marijuana THC.

i get the feeling this song is about his father being afflicted with Alzheimer's. "can't find the words to say" "I can't control my brain"
i dont know about his personal life but my grandfather has alzheimers and the song fits.
"When you’re on a golden sea
You don’t need no memory
Just a place to call your own
As we drift into the zone"
basically what i have to constantly remind him every day.

This isn't just a funny/annoying/awkward catchy song, it's got good lyrics to it. As far as I know (haha) it's talking about a guy being there for a girl even though they make a weird couple. ("I don't care what they say about us anyway, I don't care about that.")
It's cute. :D

------ About the song Beverly Hills performed by Weezer
Take this song with a grain of salt… this song is sarcastic. Weezer is mocking the people that live in this area or who want to live their lives with an aspiration of “making it” in Beverly Hills. It is an extremely pretentious area near LA and one of the most superficial places in the world.
