Wasteland Lyrics - 10 Years

Review The Song (9)

Change my attempt good intentions

Crouched over
You were not there
Living in fear
But signs were not really that scarce
Obvious tears
But I will not
Hide you through this
I want you to help them, please see
The bleeding heart perched on my shirt

Die, withdraw
Hide in cold sweat
Quivering lips
Ignore remorse
Naming a kid, living wasteland
This time you've tried
All that you can turning you red

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I
Here we are with your obsession
Should I, could I

Crowned hopeless
The article read living wasteland
This time you've tried
All that you can turning you red
but I will not
Hide you through this
I want you to help

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I

Here we are with your obsession
Should I, could I

Heave the silver hollow sliver
Piercing through another victim
Turn and tremble be judgmental
Ignorant to all the symbols
Blind the face with beauty paste
Eventually you'll one day know

Change my attempt good intentions
Limbs tied, skin tight
Self inflicted his perdition

Should I, could I
Change my attempt good intentions
Should I, could I

Why not both? | Reviewer: Jon | 6/27/11

10 Years are one of those truly good bands and this is definitely one of their best. I'm wondering, why can't both be true? I think 10 Years is trying to make a point AND leaving things open to interpretation. The fact that they've made three different music vids would seem to support this.

Either way, this song certainly touches me. Jesse does a superb job of carrying over the emotions from the lyrics to his singing.

Severely deep | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/12/11

This song is, as said in the title, severely deep. In the lyrics, music, everything. His calm, yet disappointed voice, along with the intense, yet deep music, "fills our brain" with these remorseful thoughts on what he is singing about. We want to know what the song is about. That's why it's so deep. And a very memorable, good song, in music's history.

Seriously? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/26/10

Wow, yes, I'm sure 10 Years just hates it when they hear fans love their songs, because they are comparable to Jesus and lack any and all human desire for acceptance.

The beauty of being a true artist is the versatility of one's work. Though I agree, it's nice and usually extremely interesting to know the origins of a song, whenever anyone - musician, writer, painter, etc - puts out a work, it's free to many types of interpretation. Look at the reworking of the video all those times. As a member of a band myself, we write lyrics that have universal potential. And I'm sure many others do as well, because if people can't relate with a song, or story or painting, a large group of people is probably going to ignore it. Humans are extremely self-centered. It's what makes a band successful. And unfortunately, even the people who don't understand the band's message in its entirety are a component for their success.

Who cares? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/21/09

Who cares about how the band feels? People have different outlook on the songs. The way they put the lyrics can have many possible outcomes. The band don't give a damn about opinions. They do this to make themselves happy.

Hardly a Feel Good song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/12/09

I doubt few people actually know what inspired them to write this song.

Originally the song was about one of the band members cousins being a drug addict as shown in the first shoot of the video.

The second shoot was the mud skipper dying video that can only be seen online.

And the last video was a reworked video for Amnesty International, covering third world poverty and violence in foreign countries for profiteering and such. The video shows real people who have come to the US after HORRIBLE experiences in other countries, including a rape victim now an expecting mother of her first child, a man nearly fed to a lion who is now a vet, and a man who was shot by persecutors several times, but has moved on.

Really a feel good song? Wake up bands write songs to make people AWARE, and clearly some fans of 10 Years are ignorant and not about their message, I've met the band and I don't think they would approve.

Sweet Song! | Reviewer: jamie | 5/27/07

This is 10 years best song by far; the combination of his calm voice and the heaviness of the song makes it a perfect combo!
