Eagles Wasted Time Lyrics

Last updated: 03/27/2014 09:37:43 PM

Well baby, there you stand
With your little head, down in your hand
Oh, my God, you can't believe
It's happening again
your baby's gone, and you're all alone
and it looks like the end.

And you're back out on the street.
And you're tryin' to remember.
How will you start it over?
You don't know if you can.
You don't care much for a stranger's touch,
but you can't hold your man.

You never thought you'd be alone
this far down the line
And I know what's been on your mind
You're afraid it's all been wasted time

The autumn leaves have got you thinking
about the first time that you fell
You didn't love the boy too much, no, no
you just loved the boy too well, farewell
So you live from day to day, and you dream
about tomorrow, oh.

And the hours go by like minutes
and the shadows come to stay
So you take a little something
to make them go away
And I could have done so many things, baby
If I could only stop my mind from wonderin' what
I left behind and from worrying 'bout this wasted time

Ooh, another love has come and gone
Ooh, and the years keep rushing on
I remember what you told me
before you went out on your own:
"Sometimes to keep it together,
you got to leave it alone."

So you can get on with your search, baby,
and I can get on with mine
And maybe someday we will find,
that it wasn't really wasted time
Oh hoo, ooh, ohh,
Ooh,ooh, mm

Timeless | Reviewer: Argel V. | 3/28/14

The themes are universal: loss, regret, resignation, and hope. That's why this song is so great and timeless. What human being that ever loved and lost cannot relate to these words? We have all been there at least once. Beautiful andnpoignant, Wasted Time will endure because we can all relate and identify with the character in the song. He is us.

the power of music | Reviewer: sean | 4/13/11

This has been a favorite Eagles song of mine since I was a kid. To this day, it's probably the single best live performance I've ever heard. Now divorced and alone "this far down the line" it has a whole new meaning. The power of music.

Alone this far down the line | Reviewer: Emily job | 5/15/10

This song has followed me through out the many life times I have lived. I can't count how many times I have had to "keep it together" and "leave it alone". It doesn't matter, I guess. And I do know this, I will get on with my search and no time, no matter how sorrow or precious has ever been my very short life.
Hours do go by like minutes And that is why I can't worry
about "wasted time".

Dale Earnhardt Sr. | Reviewer: Archee | 6/18/07

The week following Earnhardt's death, I had only one CD playing on my walkman while I was at work. It was a live Eagles album. And everytime Wasted Time the came the sadder I got about the great lost the racing world had just suffered. I can never listen to it without think of the Intimidator and where I was that week and how my heart ached along with all the rest of the racing world.
