Bob Marley War Lyrics

Last updated: 11/13/2013 06:49:36 AM

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Is finally
And permanently
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola,
In Mozambique,
South Africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.
And until that day,
The African continent
Will not know peace,
We Africans will fight - we find it necessary -
And we know we shall win
As we are confident
In the victory

Of good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah! /fadeout/

bob was a real wiseman due to his forecast of the future.his spirit is still remaining with us,i wonder whether great god will again bring out another kind of messenger in the shape of father bob,his combat against racism, inequality, freedom were achieved.what is remaining depends on mankind's awareness.

More important now than ever ....and forever | Reviewer: james peters | 12/18/11

Truly a remarkable theme and message for all of mankind to be equal in one another's eyes. And if life is so dear it should always be , as should all life be not allow or invite the act of war. I have witnessed many atrocities in my lifetime , and none so devistating as infliction of distruction of a race. None should forgive the dogs of war. JP xoxox

Bob was full of wisdom, absolutely nothing from these words need changing and the other version from Haile Selassie 1 speech should have been added to the song I.E: Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious an inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; until Africans stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, the African continent will not know peace. We Africans will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of GOOD over EVIL. Bob, I wish you would have added those words. Or maybe you did already, I dont know...

How true in this time and place, this song can carry such meaning. Validitiy in the current times only helps to display the true force of this song and Bob's priceless words of encouragement. Change the lyrics from "Africa" to the world and the shoe fits.

Hopefully as Bob had hoped, this world will one day be, One Love.
