Nightwish Walking In The Air Lyrics

Last updated: 03/12/2014 05:52:54 AM

We’re walking in the air
We’re floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly

I´m holding very tight
I’m riding in the midnight blue
I’m finding I can fly so high above with you

Far across the world
The villages go by like dreams
The rivers and the hills
The forests and the streams

Children gaze open mouth
Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes

We’re surfing in the air
We’re swimming in the frozen sky
We’re drifting over icy mountains floating by

Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Rousing up a mighty monster from his sleep

We’re walking in the air
We’re dancing in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly

I am old, but had never heard of The Snowman. I first listened to this song song on "Christmas Choral Classics" sung by the Crouch End Festival Chorus - Conducted by David Temple and backed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. I think it is one of the most beautiful tunes, so full of longing and gorgeous key changes. I love it. -- from Keaau, Hawaii, USA.

I have sung the song in the choir I belong to and the words you display are correct from the published music we sang from. Also how do you explain to someone when they insist Aled Jones was the original singer when all along I have known it was Peter Auty? Aled has a beautiful voice but if you listen carefully you can hear the difference.

Peter Auty sang the original song it was only two years later that Aled Jones released it. Peter was credited with singing the song when it was remastered in 2002. Great film/cartoon though, always a favourite. And a new version the Snowman and the Snowdog released for Christmas 2012, brilliant also.

a beautiful movie, seen on tv every Christmaseve as a little girl. Finally we have the dvd, and i can pay this piece of art forward to my kids. The drawings and the mood in that movie, without sayings- only music- is absolutely wonderful- and my kids loves it too! Thanks to nightWish, the fantastic theme from the movie, is broadcasted and being enjoyed all over the world!

So many wrong notions about this song. | Reviewer: Jim | 12/24/09

At least I'm glad someone wrote the correct lyrics here, especially "Rousing up a mighty monster" instead of "Arousing a mighty monster." Sheez.....and English choir boys always over pronounce everything, how could people get this line wrong???

The original singer was not Aled Jones, he only popularized it. The original singer from the cartoon soundtrack was actually "Peter Auty."

Well, I don't know how many of you know this... but there is a little known animated short film called the snowman. this song is featured in that movie. (not done by nightwish of course) but I think nightwish has blown that version out of the water. Nice Job!
