WWVII Lyrics - Sum 41

Review The Song (2)

The year is 3468,
And they're about to eliminate,
Life as we all know it on Planet Earth,
They're products of a new regime,
With manufactured designer genes,
Scientifically enhanced at birth,

Superior in almost every way,
With telepathic DNA,
They'll hunt you down there's nowhere you can hide,
Created for the killing machine,
Proto-nuclear human beings,
We must help to prevent this genocide,

Have we created, our own demise,
They're out to kill, using their minds,
You'll feel the chill, run down your spine,
Tell me, since when has being human been a crime?,
sponsored links
Gonna hunt you, gonna get you, Your time is up,

It seems the time has come for the human race,
Gone for good, vanishing without a trace,
Cerebroids are silencing their cries,
The clones are trying to assist evolution,
Through state sponsored executions,
Will nothing stop this evil enterprise?,

Until the day a leader emerges,
With mind powers like electric surges,
He'll give us hope, he'll teach us how to fight,
A clash of arms with the enemy,
An outcome no-one can forsee,
Let's pray they can't withstand our human might,

Have we created, our own demise,
They're out to kill, using their minds,
You'll feel the chill, run down your spine,
Tell me, since when has being human been a crime?,
Gonna hunt you, gonna get you, Your time is up,

Have we created, our own demise,
They're out to kill, using their minds,
You'll feel the chill, run down your spine,
Tell me, since when has being human been a crime?,
Gonna hunt you, gonna get you, Your time is up,

Breaks the mold. | Reviewer: Ace | 8/22/09

A strange song, and not the type I'm used to hearing nowadays. Haven't HEARD it yet, but the lyrics...well, I'm a Flogging Molly fan, so I'm used to not-so-normal (in some way or another) songs, but this one really got me raising an eyebrow. Not half bad, and a little disconcerting. Although, when I read, "Since when has being human been a crime?" I laughed out loud. Really. I've been on a X-men kick lately (and you ought to go get yourself obsessed somehow -- fun stuff) and so the first thing that came to mind was the Sentinels and the Mutants...and they DID make WXM (Wolverine and the X-Men) partly future-based, albeit only twenty years and not a thousand-plus, but still... Also, in WXM, the future sentinels had mutant powers in their arsenals..."with telepathic DNA..."

Seriously, though, this is slightly disturbing -- granted that I'm not an evolutionist and therefore don't believe such things will ever come about -- and the parallels would be amusing if I wasn't so obsessive about the X-universes.

Overall, a not-bad song, but kind of depressing. It could also be (roughly) considered an analogy regarding people being stupid (not saying who) and setting themselves up for demolition, even if they mean well... But then that might just be me and my crazy head.

Amazing. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/1/05

This song is amazing. So are Sum 41, especially as Pain for Pleasure.
