Vitamin Religion: Leading Us Along | Reviewer: Jake | 8/12/09 Well first of all, everyone has their own individual idea of what the song means TO THEMSELF. But this song, to me, is about religion and how it leads us along. People are so strong about their faith sometimes, that it becomes a drug to them it seems. The song could have easily been named just "Leading Us Along". I think the artist used the name "Vitamin R", to show how people sell religion like a vitamin. Like a supplement that you don't NEED, but it makes life better, "If you're a fly, Achieved and gone, There's time for this, And so much more", When in reality it's a drug that gets us addicted and leads us along.. It might not make sense, considering Chevelle is considered a christian band, but one of their greatest influences is the band Tool. Tool, I don't believe, is christian at all. Listen to their song "Opiate" and it expresses a similar idea. People use religion so they don't have to cope with reality: "It's typical, create a world; a special place of my design. To never cope, or never care; just use the key, cause he's alone." Some people say it's about ritalin though. My mom first put me on ritalin, but now I'm on Adderall and Stratera. Side effects I've experienced are lack of appetite, weight loss, trouble sleeping, and dizziness or fainting. I used to be a pretty chubby kid when I was 9; then I took the meds and instead of being over 100 pounds, I'm like between 80-95.5. Sugar reacts differently in a chemically imbalanced chum, causes havoc. As a child i was considered ADHD by Physicians but with a improved diet and a little structured classes i gained my life back. Reduce fruit, NO CANDY!, No cereal with sugar! And get the fuck away from the TV, it wrecks your head...too many commercials and view changes, it's a brain wash box. Get your kid involved in outdoor sports and events for Christ sake. Children aren't fish and shouldn't be kept in tanks...it's proven to make any critter insane. If you don't have time to raise a child then put them up for adoption cause we have too many whacked out people roaming the streets as it is. And spanking is not abuse when not done in anger , it is corrective assessment and a teaching tool in the right hands.
