Vera Lyrics - Pink Floyd

Review The Song (11)

(Background: Where the hell are you?)
(Radio announcer: Over 47 German planes were destroyed with the loss of only 15 of our own aircraft)
(Background: Where the hell are you Simon?

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do?

"basically thewre's all that bring tha boys back home -
what the hell r u thinking...
it is sooooooooo relevent
git r done - and git it right"

If you were a true Floyd fan and you actually listen to The Wall you would know that is a different track on the album called "Bring the Boys Back Home" it just sounds like the same song because the entire album is meant to be listened to front to back.

The Wall Plotline - Vera | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/13/10

Pink realizes that he will never escape his self-built wall. The Vera in lyrics refers to the 1940s recording artist Vera Lynn, who gained fame with the song "We'll Meet Again". Pink chooses to address her because he has just realized that he will never meet humanity again from inside his Wall.

This is who you were thinking of... Not even the same era, wtf?

"In 1980, Bianchi began a relationship with Veronica Compton, a woman he met while in prison. During his trial, she testified for the defense, telling the jury a false, vague tale about the crimes in an attempt to exculpate Bianchi and also admitting to wanting to buy a mortuary with another convicted murderer for the purpose of necrophilia. She was later convicted and imprisoned for attempting to strangle a woman she had lured to a motel in an attempt to have authorities believe that the Hillside Strangler was still on the loose and the wrong man was imprisoned. Bianchi had given her some smuggled semen to use to make it look like a rape/murder committed by the Hillside Strangler."

"vera lynn" pink floyd | Reviewer: Kira | 3/5/09

She was a wwll singer.. she sang for the injured soldiers, my grandpa was one that got to see her.. he said she was absolutly breath taking. That she lit up the room with her eyes and her voice was remarkable. The part in the song he says "remember how she said that we would meet again some sunny day? " was a name of her song "we will meet again" she says that very verse

Music makes me sappy infrequently, and this makes me damn near cry. What a moving, masterfully done song.
