On a cold dark winter night, hidden by a stormy light
A battle rages for the right, for what will become
In the valley of the damned, a warrior with sword in hand
He travels fast across the land, for freedom he rides
And the sign from the master on high
He screams aloud and across, hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice
And the power to be alive
Be strong ride on, carry on through the war
Come along carry on, living for ever more
On the wings of death, by the hands of doom
By the darkest light, from the darkest moon
Crossing silent seas, over mountains high
all will stand as one tonight
(Chorus)
On the black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide
When the master will call us
He stands high before us
Our hearts filled with splendor
Our swords will shine over the light
In the valley of the damned
Day breaks with golden strand
Over pastures green it glows
To where night returns
In the shadows faces appear
Warriors wearing full metal gear
Join together one and all before the glorious light
Rise up, gather around, come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind don't you ever forget
On the wings of life, by the hands of hope
By the brightest light from the brightest sun
Crossing silent seas over mountains high
To the valley of the damned!

Review about Valley Of The Damned Good name to metal | Reviewer: DarkleSSR | 10/22/09
Something ive always liked about DragonForce is that they dont sing about crap like being satanists and im gona hang ma self and all that s**t they sing about fighting for glory and right and they are a metal band that do actualy have half decent lyrics
and i agree with all these guys its about finishing youre quest that youve been called to fighting for youre glory and to fight to defend youre fellow warriors
adventure!!! | Reviewer: Haydn | 7/26/09
this song has nothing to do with religion. It's about ADVENTURE!! reminds me of Lord of the Rings, and Final Fantasy. This song is all about a few warriors that are travelling miles and miles and having to battle evil to continue their quest so they can reach the Valley of the Damned where their master is.
so putting it simply :
there's this all powerfull warrior (the Master) that has travelled many lands to a place called the Valley of the Damned. War happens elsewhere and the Master calls his underlings to come to the Valley of the Damned, but there are evil things delaying their path so they have to destroy the evil. after a while, they are joined by Warriors to accompany them in their travels. Once they reached the VOTD they all gathered and told tales of their adventures.
That's in my opinion the TRUE meaning of this song.
it's not about religion!!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/17/09
i think this is not christian. i think it's more like rpg stuff. it's all based in that kind of stories (Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Chrono Trigger). only hear Operation ground and pound!! it's all base d in Zelda Twilight Princess!!! i now, they talk about gods and all that stuff, but 'When the master will call us, he stands high before us'it's very differnet to 'glory to the Lord'

This song is amazing and people only like through the fire and the flames (I'd almost say it's overrated). They don't listen to other songs by Dragonforce. As for are they satanic, I'd say no f***ing way. I am Roman Catholic and believe there is no possible way they are evil. They sing of victory, being together, Light/God, and destroying evil. Answer this: Does the devil want; people to unite, talk of Light, and have himself destroyed?

I personally do not like this song as much as alot of their other ones. Through the Fire and the Flames, Fury of the Storm, Black Fire, those 3 are my favorites by them. But it is still a good song. And about the Christian undertones, I myself am a Christian, but I dont think they would be Christian because while they do have some lyrics that seem Christian, there are also some that seem Satanic(in other songs).. so I would say its just your classic good vs evil story.

This song is definitely one of the best that they've created! Everyone just recognizes them from the song through the fire and the flames but they have other songs that are just as good if not even better like with this one.
great | Reviewer: anonymous | 12/31/08
this is a great song, their first ever song, and i think their absolute best except for mayb eprepare for war, fury of the storm, or reasons to live but this is outstanding. however, i think u made ONE small screwwup in the lyrics because it said In the valley of the damned, a warrior with sword in hand
He travels fast across the land, for freedom he rides i think it should be he TRACKS fast across the land but otherwise great lyrics.
a quest!! | Reviewer: kevinxmaa | 12/11/08
All of the other comments have said thing about how this song follows a celtic scene. True. I mean there name is dragon force. I can't imagine and thing more celtic than the "Force of Dragons"
I'm Scottish so I should know.
Side note: *This is the best band ever*
Absolutely great | Reviewer: Dragonforce yea | 12/6/08
First time I heard Dragonforce music was, surprise, via Guitar Hero. TTFAF was great but I didn't know that all their songs are at least that great!! This is my favourite. Absolute great band and insane guitarists.. Love them.
Well I'm a christian and I like this type of music.A huge debate going on is if DF is secretly christian or satanic. They do have 2 members from a satanic band (Daimons, which is basically pronounced demons)But they have nothing to do with the lyrics. Some of the lyrics do seem christian, it almost seems like he has two singing sides, A dark side and a light side that he switches between every few lines.
Personally, I dont think they are christian or satanic. It looks more like a guy who has heroic visions and writes about them.
