I found the chorus (another reviewer said children, but I thought women)and some of the instrumentation highly evocative of ancient Greece. Yes, a close listen to the lyrics reveals images that are a "touch" disturbing, but not extremely so, more thought provoking than anything else. The piano melody is absolutely brilliant, accompanied by the repetitive "Please, don't take your love away from me" that keeps hitting a soft spot in your heart. It was a wonderful moment, heartwrenching nevertheless, when this song was played on One Tree Hill. It put out what Peyton was feeling through its beautiful verses and melody. Bravo to Vast. All throughout this CD, he rides a razor's edge of emotions, taking you unwittingly along on his hell-bent-for-leather ride. The scariest part is... you REALLY ENJOY IT. Normally, I would be repulsed by his sampling of the Bulgarian Womens Choir (whom I adore), but have to admit it was done with good taste. Sampling in ANY song usually says to me, This person has no talent and prefers to borrow successful sounds to fill in the gaps... but these are no simple fills. Everything on this CD was carefully planned and executed. Cudos, VAST... keep us all shivering in our boots.
