Untitled 2 (Morissey Song) Lyrics - Brand New
Review The Song (9)
She was just seventeen, pious and pretty with a deadly disease
And the weight of the world on a prosthetic shoulder
And by the summer of ‘96 her body was cracked like porcelin
Just like some Precious Moments collectable
In a hospital gown and a big bright golden halo
And so three cheers for my morose and grieving pals
And now let's hear it for the tears that I’ve welled up
We’ve come too far to have to give it all up now
We live lives that are rich and blessed
And we burn for how we transgress
Now I’ve mastered the art
Of the open casket prayer and the singing guitar
I found the rewards weren’t half what I'd hoped for
And meanwhile, we all feigned hope and mirth
As her parents went on and lied to her
All about the success of the surgeries
And how my ex-girlfriend was now sleeping with her fiancé
If there's any justice in heaven, then God won't let me in
He'll lock the gates and take my weekend pass away
With a sympathetic wave, they'll see me off, return my golden crown
While I am cursed to walk the earth for a millennia
I know I deserve worse but it terrifies me and I can't take it anymore

That bridge part is INSANELY | Reviewer: Soupy | 3/23/10
Like most of you have said, i love the sort of tribute they have given Morrissey. But its that riff that (I'm gonna take a chance and say Vinni) plays 2:40 into the song, its insanely good!
Jesse is a massive inspiration to me lyrically. Some of the things this guy comes out with are just outstanding

This song is amazing, it really exhibits how brand new has evolved and matured. I know some people who think that brand new changed for the worse, and i see where they are coming from... but i think the new stuff is amazing. TDAGARIM is an amazing album and so are these tracks, but only if you listen to appreciate the tracks for what they are. If you listen expecting to hear something similar to their early stuff, you will be disappointed. but thats what makes brand new so sweet, they'll never make an album twice.

That bridge with the "if there's any justice in heaven...." to "terrifies me and I can't take it anymore" makes me want to cry every time I listen to it.
Its really sad to listen to how bad of a person Jesse (or the narrator) thinks that he is for his sins. I'm thinking he's telling a story from the narrator's point of view, but with TDAGARIM or these demos, you never know the real meaning of these songs. They're up to the reader's interpretation.
And that's the real beauty of Br&New.

If you compair brand new's old upbeat pop-punk style to these 9 new demo's, anyone can tell, huge difference. But in my opinion, i really like the new sound of brand new, its something un heard of from them and its got me and im sure many others wanting more.
