He began to develop other lung diseases though, and after a long, difficult struggle, he passed away 4 months ago. My Dad was my best friend. I was there with him for years as he got sick, and spent 4 agonizing days by his hospital bed while he died. I had never heard this song until 2 days before he passed away. Almost every word relates to what I went through with my father and it still gives me chills to listen to it!! 20 minutes after he died I was handed his watch, which I had given him as a Christmas present, also which he NEVER took off. I've recently been listenning to it ALOT lately because I found out last Thursday that my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Though the lyrics are sad, they still help me get through the day. Espescially the line: You will beat this starting now and you will always be around. It gives me hope. Brand New will always remain my favorite band (though there are so many great ones out there).
