In January 2008, when Uncle Kracker began to write the songs that appear on his new album Happy Hour, it was his eight year-old daughter who suggested that he try writing something a little less downbeat than usual. "She said to me, 'I can't really dance to any of your songs,'" the father of three says with a laugh. "Not that I needed to make a dance record, but it dawned on me that I tend to write a lot of acoustic ballads and mid-tempo type tunes. When he says "it will be alrigh if you don't ask me to stay" it could mean one of two things: A) once a cheater always a cheater...so in that sense if they did have a relationship, what's to keep her from cheating on him, especially if she did it for him. and the other is that things are better this way. they are fuck buddies for the most part. he's down for everything but a relationship. This song is totally amazing and its only about drugs if you think about it that way. I've listened to this song since i was little. I sang it as a lullaby for babies a put asleep. White Lines is a song by Grand Master Flash back in the 70's about cocaine, I still hear it today. A decent portion of mainstream rap is about Drugs and listened to by a wide variety of people, so to claim that Uncle Kracker is disguising his song about drugs in the form of love with a woman is a little ridiculous.
