UB40 Lyrics

More than any other artists of their time, Britain's UB40
have proven the power of pop-influenced reggae music. With
worldwide sales topping 30 million albums during their
career, the UB40 story demonstrates just how far people can
go by staying true to their roots. UB40 grew up in the
heart of Birmingham, one of England's most ethnically
diverse cities. The summer of 1978 saw the eight band
members drawn together by their love of the skanking
Jamaican reggae vibes.

Taking their name from a notorious British unemployment
form, the More...

------ About the song Tyler performed by UB40

Tyler and Food For Thought are, in my opinion, the strongest and best UB40 songs. I fully subscribe to the concept that the era of cover songs (albeit decent) ruined the band's potential.

------ About the song Higher Ground performed by UB40

Used to love this song until our headmaster one day said what a great song it was and how it was all about learning (The chorus) Then he played it to all us all. How corny it was, I mean after that none of us liked the song cos it reminded us of the head. And who wants to like the same music as your stuffy old headmaster?

------ About the song (I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You performed by UB40

A Lot Of People who were around in the 1990's like i am don't know that elvis did the original in the 1960's. elvis Presley's Version Was A Ballad and he had the voice to do a great job but ub40's version is different it took a elvis presley ballad to a 1990's reggae song good job elvis and ub40? If Elvis was around when ub40 did it what would he think of it?

------ About the song Tyler performed by UB40

The opening track of UB 40s seminal album 'Signing Off' Tyler is a fantastyic opening to a quite brilliant, anthemic album. The band, named after the ubiquitous unemployment claim form of the time hit a top note of politicised midland's reggae here and never let go.

------ About the song Verison Girl performed by UB40

Hi,

Just to let you know - UB40's 'Version Girl' has a couple letters switched in the title.
It's showing up as 'Verison Girl' (i and s switched).

Thanks much for your site, it's a big help.

------ About the song Sing Our Own Song performed by UB40

This is one of my favorite songs for many years. It's the melody and rhythm of the song that initially caught my attention. Then I listened to the words and it moved me. I first heard it as a young teenager and had no idea what it meant but I knew it was talking about something real and tragic.

A theme for my 1984 | Reviewer: Simon Signolet
------ About the song Red Red Wine performed by UB40

I'm a music lover rather than a UB40 fan but I have a couple of their albums just because they are excellent. Surely one of the best songs of the 80s. Simple words that paints the picture, no garnish, no fuss, no surplus. Most music videos are mediocre but the original video (black & white) for this song actually enhances the message. A very touching song.

------ About the song Bring Me Your Cup performed by UB40

The lyrics for this version of the song are for the cut found on 'Promises and Lies' but it is also known as: Bring Me Your Cup-7" version. Other people will list the lyrics for the version on the 'The Very Best of 1980-2000' album. Yeah, it is aggrivating when artists or labels release different different versions of a song... makes me work that much harder to find all the versions of that song... *sigh*
