Two of Us Lyrics

Review The Song (12)Print the Lyrics
Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters
On my wall
You and me burning matches
Lifting latches
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

We're going home
Better believe it

Review about Two of Us

Opening Quote | Reviewer: Jaymz | 11/2/09

"I dig a Pygmy by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids... Phase One in which Doris gets her oats." Is the opening line.
Also
The song was originally written by paul about his wife, but later served as a tribute from Paul to John and back after the Beatles split.

It was actually Linda that had claimed the song was about her and Paul's relationship, and that they'd written it during a road trip "to nowhere," and I can see that in the lyrics.

Still, I see a lot more of John and Paul's friendship in lines like "spending someone's hard-earned pay" and "you and I have memories longer than the road ahead" and "you and me chasing papers."

It could be aspects of both, but I think the "you and I have memories longer than the road ahead" line is a dead giveaway. After all, if this was written at the start of Paul and Linda's relationship, why would the PAST be longer than the FUTURE? Makes more sense that Paul was writing about the end to the Beatles and the Lennon/McCartney writing team.

No matter what about is the song Two of Us. It's a nice song. Like everything they (as we say about Beatles in Brasil. They are the most. And Two of Us may be something about Paul and John.Whay not? As in Those were the days...
Friendship and so on.

Well, if you have something like "The best of the Beatles" it's just not enough. You need "Everything of the Beatles". THen you'll be sure you can discover all the diamonds they've made. I changed alot in my life with music, and it's a gift from God, and may He bless us all...

Wrong not about John and Yoko | Reviewer: Mely | 3/30/08

This song was written by McCartney and actually was NOT about John and Yoko. It was actually written for Paul's past wife Linda. Many believe that there was a certain undertone to the song that referenced John and Paul's relationship yet McCartney still claims it to be of wife Linda. Either way, GREAT song..The beatles are the best band in history.

What's this about | Reviewer: Salvador | 1/29/08

I don't know when this song was written. So I wonder if it is about Paul and John or about John and Yoko. I suppose if it was written in 1968 or later (it was released in '70) then it is about John and Yoko. What do you think?

This is such a beautiful song too. I really love it.

Two of us | Reviewer: mover | 10/8/07

Although this song was one of the last ones from The Beatles carrier, it sounds as from an earlier stage - when there were John and Paul and not just John and Yoko. So pure, so simple but still so deep. Beatles forever.

what are the first words of the Let It Be album? | Reviewer: bengt kjellander | 8/1/07

what are the first words of the Let It Be album? It's something about "phase one in which Doris gets her oats" There are more things said here and there on the LP,which are hard to grasp - said by the Beatles members.
