Twilight Lyrics - Elliott Smith
Review The Song (12)
Haven't laughed this hard in a long time
I better stop now before I start crying
Go off to sleep in the sunshine
I don't want to see the day when it's dying
She's a sight to see (sight to see)
She's good to me (good to me)
But I'm already somebody's baby
She's a pretty thing
And she knows everything
But I'm already somebody's baby
You don't deserve to be lonely
But those drugs you've got won't make you feel better
Pretty soon you'll find it's the only
Little part of your life you're keeping together
I'm nice to you
I could make it through
But you're already somebody's baby
I could make you smile
If you stayed a while
But how long will you stay with me, baby?
Because your candle burns too bright
Well I almost forgot it was twilight
Even if I think that you are right
Well I'm tired of being down, I got no fight
And it's beautiful
But I'm already somebody's baby
And if I went with you
I'd disappoint you too
Well I'm already somebody's baby
Already somebody's baby

The song for everyone in a relationship that sometimes falls for somebody else and realizes that this is ok and you still can love your partner, while also appreciating and thinking of another person. In my opinion this makes total sense. I love you Elliott.

I know its impossible to really know what was going through elliot's head but what i do know is for what he let out,a lot of people could relate to his songs. What i like the most is that they not only have great lyrics good artists can do that, but great artists can have a real emotional vibe thats just real and can provoke the listeners thoughts like no other, for that i am so grateful for having the chance to listening to elliot's music

We get through a lot of the struggles in life by making up one thing or another to either mask, forget, or numb that painful event. I always get the feeling Elliott had eyes that wouldn't, wouldn't let him forget the pain and slip into a peaceful dream.

"Haven't laughed this hard in a long time
Better stop now before I start crying"
I believe is the purest and most angelic part of the entire song. It encompasses his emotions entirely. He felt he was not worth happiness. R.I.P, good sir.
if you don't get him | Reviewer: JHawkins | 6/25/11
Elliott Smith was a creative genius that wrote poetry put to song that described his experiance. Severe chronic depression and self medication with D&A. Any of us that understand that sentiment click with Smith and many of us struggle with these same issues, fighting them constantly. If you don't get it off the bat, that's because if you haven't felt it, it is inexplicable to you. The more you listen and educate yourself in the subject the more you understand.
I still feel you | Reviewer: memphismorrison | 2/26/11
Elliott Smith had clinical depression. If you can't relate to his music that's why. His songs about heartache aren't just songs about heartache, they're songs about heartache from the view point of a clinically depressed man. His songs are always so much more than what you read on the surface. You have to really look into them. He wasn't just another person singing a sad song because that's how he felt at a point in time. That's how he felt the majority of the time.

if this song lulls you into a peaceful state of mind... you dont grasp the emotion behind the song at all. Its beautiful, and has so much feeling in it that it makes me cry when i hear it. Actually listen to the song, you might appreciate it more.

Review? It's good.
I went to make a mix cd with the dangers/horrors/experience of drug addiction as a general theme and I realized that while there are several other good choices in my library, they all pale in comparison to even Smith's "weakest" songs, or songs that never made it to a proper release ("High Times" is a perfect example. "I am so sick of trying to change your mind, when it's so easy just to disconnect mine"
With the exception of singing to my kids, the only song I have ever sung to someone was "Angeles". I sang it softly into her ear as fireworks lit up the sky.
I hate that he's dead.
I hate that his songs resonate with me.
And, no offense to anyone in particular, but because I think his art belongs to everyone individually and that they all glean what they want/need from it, I hate hearing other people talk about his music.

Love Elliott Smith. The definition of meaningful and melancholy. What a beautiful person he was. Watch his interviews. For someone so shy and humble, he was a true performer and musical genious. Always will be missed. I hope his music carries on.
Rest in peace, Elliott | Reviewer: BRITTNEY RAINE. | 3/16/07
This song is amazing.
The melody flows beautifully,
And lulls you into a peaceful state of mind.
The lyrics are straightforward and meaningful.
His voice is (was) pure, raw, beauty.
Rest In Peace Steven "Elliott" Smith.
We miss you.
