Turn The Page Lyrics - Metallica
Review The Song (22)
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engines
moanin' Out as one old song
You can think about the woman or the girl
You knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering
The way they always do
When you're ridin' sixteen hours
And there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like riding
You just wish the trip was through
Here I am,On the road again
There I am,Up on the stage
There I go, Playin' star again
There I go, Turn the page
So you walk into this restaurant
Strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
As you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you
But you just want to explode
Yeah most times you can't hear 'em talk
But other times you can
All the same old clichés:
"Is it woman? Is it man?"
And you always seem outnumbered
You don't dare make a stand
Make your stand
Here I am, On the road again
There I am, Up on the stage
Here I go, Playin' star again
There I go, Turn the page
Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away
As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememberin' what she said
What she said
(Yeah, what she said.)
Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playin' star again
There I go, turn the page
And there I go, turn that page
There I go, yeah
Here I go, yeah(3x)
There I go, there I go
(And I'm gone)

wow... | Reviewer: Hexxx | 11/21/11
I know there are as much interpretations to it as people in this world, but to me it refers mostly to sexuality... "Is it woman? Is it man?" And it´s such a touching song to all of us because it indeed reaches to something very deep inside... I think "diff point of view" here gets a little of what I´m saying. It´s about that never ending journey called life, and the decisions we make (and sometimes are made for us by others)... And it feels to me that most of the times we blame "the others that look at us with contempt", but it is actually all in our heads. To explode or turn the page... At the end she/he seems to finally make it... and get some peace to him/herself

I've just had a bad break up, she just broke up with me randomly last week, without any reason, and we aint talked since. I've been listening to the lyrics of this song alot lately and it really resonates with how i'm feeling... like sitting alone thinking about everything shit and good. It's a song that isn't just about long trips or being in a band. i get the feeling its about losing a girl and trying to move on.

metallica sings out the life | Reviewer: Sumit | 7/3/10
Wow...Things only metallica can do..singing out one whole's life ...with such powerful lyrics that stings the shit out of you...The songs are frighteningly enlightning...The first time you hear them...you are stunned..NOW WHAT WAS THAT!!!!!When slowly it begins to sink in..you can see reality unravelling like the bitterest pill you have ever swallowed....never can you fully comprehend the hidden message beneath the melodious lyrics at one go..Every time you listen to them , a fresh wave of comprehension sweeps over you....like a fresh spark escaping from an inferno....I've often struggled to stop those tears swelling ...But this is what metallica does best...ripping apart ones life and bringing the reality crashing out into the open...HATS OFF!!!

turn the page is not about what you think its about, there is a truth hiden in the song that until you don't feel it you can't underestand it.
its not alway's about traveling by bus long way or ...etc 1st verse: you can stay still but you riding the 16 hours road in your head , and the wishing to end of the trip might be the wishing to endig of ur life which is filled with misery..
2nd verse: walking to a restaurant might means entering a cirtain place of your live where u can see the eyes upon you(ppl expecting something from you ,or an accident which may cuse loss of loved ones),shaking of cold(feeling shame ,coz you can't deliver the thing ppl expect from you,you not being able to do nothing about it)so you pretend it dos not bother you , its eating you alive..........
Best F***ing song ever | Reviewer: Lizzey | 12/7/09
I love this song and the first time I heard it I was sitting there like what the hell! I was in shock cos I didn't know that Metallica could make a cover so awesome and so not like the original, I mean ... I think that Metallica put heaps more emotion into it cos I think that Hetfield knows what it's like to go on tour and miss the people he loves the most while pretending everything's okay.
best song... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/09

Turn the Page | Reviewer: Zach | 7/19/09
To me, this is like somewhat of a theme song. It refers to the journey of life, and how we travel always and keep going on. As we go along with it all, we turn the pages that represent our lives. The remembered woman/girl, represents someone close who has helped you along the way, and the day's last cigarette represents the relieving of stresses that we encounter. Sometimes we wish the ride was through, and other times we just want to explode. However, we must remember to just "Turn that page".
Credit goes to Bob Seger for creating such an awesome song, and Metallica for revamping it and releasing one of the best Heavy Metal covers ever.
This is an awesome song that uses a great metaphor for its theme, and has one of the best ballad-style lyrics ever.
One of my top most favorite songs.
