Trouble Lyrics - Cat Stevens

Review The Song (5)

Trouble
Oh trouble set me free
I have seen your face
And it's too much too much for me

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You're eating my heart away
And there's nothing much left of me

I've drunk your wine
You have made your world mine
So won't you be fair
So won't you be fair

I don't want no more of you
So won't you be kind to me
Just let me go where
I'll have to go there

Trouble
Oh trouble move away
I have seen your face
and it's too much for me today

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You have made me a wreck
Now won't you leave me in my misery

I've seen your eyes
and I can see death's disguise
Hangin' on me
Hangin' on me

I'm beat, I'm torn
Shattered and tossed and worn
Too shocking to see
Too shocking to see

Trouble
Oh trouble move from me
I have paid my debt
Now won't you leave me in my misery

Trouble
Oh trouble please be kind
I don't want no fight
And I haven't got a lot of time

Can't get this song out of my head | Reviewer: michelle | 3/13/13

Allthough I find it hard to choose a favorite anything, this song certainly seems to be coming to mind a lot in my 50's. Laid dorment for 30 years after I initially listened to his albums, Tea for the Tillerman and Catch Bull at Four, thousands of times when they first came out, yet this one song is so TRUE and POWERFUL, and it makes me cry every time i sing it

Haunting and beautiful...a favorite | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/1/11

I first heard this performed by the Holmes Brothers on the Crossing Jordan soundtrack. It was mesmerizing, so I had to learn its source. I was surprised to learn it was by Cat Stevens. Haunting and beautiful.

Love this song. | Reviewer: Teresa | 5/20/11

I believe this song"TROUBLE,"says a lot about a lot.
Personally, I think it is his best...(If I had to choose which is extremely difficult).
I connect with it for more personal reasons that are painful, and full of trouble.
Full of pain, and just want to go.........

the meaning of trouble | Reviewer: tom | 5/14/10

Harrowing, grief-stricken and disturbing. The tormented soul of Steven Georgiou pleads for deliverance in this song that is by far his most profound. "Trouble" is the layman's term for the tuberculosis that was killing him at the time this song was conceived. It is breathtaking in its beauty and delivery, betraying his mortality and the deperate fear of dying that shrouded him at that time. He survived as Cat Stevens then later Yusuf Islam and left this song for us as a witness to more troubled times long since gone.
