Talent and charisma are key ingredients for any professional musician, but without dedication and perseverance, many bands quickly fade to black. Then there are those like Orlando, Florida band Trivium, who are so determined, their behavior borders on insanity. The day before Hurricane Charlie decimated Florida, Trivium were playing the Masquerade in Atlanta. While they knew they were up against their own Perfect Storm, they decided not cancel the next night's show in their hometown. He showed me slipknot first of all, but then my other friend showed me Pull Harder on the Strings Of Your Martyr, and I was amazed. I was even more amazed that this brilliant singer also is a kickass guitarist! But I only like the Ascendancy album and the song "Becoming the Dragon" off the Crusade. As you can tell though the album draws the focus of Matt Heafy's(vocals/rhythm guitars) Japanese heriatage the album in general focuses on ancient Greek and Japanese mythology comparing lyrics and studying the titles most songs a cached similar meaning as in telling the stories of the Greeks and Japanese mythology. Many of their songs draw lyrical inspiration from different kinds of ancient mythology. That's pointless and is really weird. Metal to me is anything that makes me feel certain emotions that can be good and bad. I'm musically influenced to a certain degree but I'm not going to say one band is better than another or one band sounds like a different band. Comparing and contrasting is good on occasion, but not with music. Sure everyone has their own opinion and I can respect that, but putting a band or musician down isn't very productive and only stirs up the crowd.
