Translating The Name Lyrics - Saosin

Review The Song (14)

Oh, start saving green and before breathing
(I have your voice on tape in a southern accent screaming at me)
I was only one and we weren't prepared for one before dreaming
(I have your voice on tape in a southern accent screaming at me)

Know things look lovely to you
Holding back, now and forever
Sweetheart, things look lovely
Hoping for midnight and I deny
You were walking so peculiar like (Still so deadly)
You were lost in somebody else
You were walking so peculiar like (Still so deadly)
You were lost in somebody else

Sweet penance for a sound
It might explode in our hands

I'm falling in a brown pigmentation of
Where the element guards cut short, turned in, and stopped

I've been watching rose give in and
I wish that I could taper away so
I've been watching rose give in to it
Severing the ties between mother and son
I've been watching rose give in to it
Severing the ties between mother and son

Know things look lovely to you
Holding back, now and forever
Sweetheart, things look lovely
Hoping for midnight and I deny
You were walking so peculiar like (Still so deadly)
You were lost in somebody else
You were walking so peculiar like (Still so deadly)
You were lost in somebody else

Sweet penance for a sound
It might explode in our hands
It might explode
Sweet penance for a sound
It might explode in our hands
It might explode

Oh, I once saw many place the end
I promised the world and a dozen roses
Oh, I once saw many place the end
I promised the world and a dozen roses

pretty sure the song is not about abortion its about a young couple who were absolutely not ready for a child and deciding to keep the child "oh start saving green and before breathing" save money before it gets here

"i have your voice on tape in a southern accent screaming at me" some women are absolutely insane when theyre pregnant with hormones, fear, etc. nonetheless, screaming attitude, everything is normally directed toward the male who "ruined" their lives and bodies especially in a young unprepared unexpected situation

"i was only one and we werent prepared for one" she probably left him during the pregnancy in either feeling he wasnt good enough or fear he wouldnt provide, also very common fears in unsuspected

Tempo changes, Fills, and Double Kicks | Reviewer: MirageIXA | 7/9/10

This song is freakin awesome. As a drummer I find this song to be quite challenging to perform. I love the tempo changes, fills, and double kicks. The freakin guitar rhythms are excellent. Thank you Anthony Green for the lyrics.

on a more serious note | Reviewer: @bobbyluvsyou | 2/6/10

The song is amazing.old/new saosin, seriously what does it matter? The band is and will continue to be great, with or without anthony green,he is undoubtedly an amazing singer and my favorite artist, nonetheless, sit back and bite your tongue,I'm sure we all rather listen to the artists at hand not the critics

A touching song about abortion | Reviewer: TranslatingTheLyrics | 5/5/09

This song is quite obviously about abortion.
The character's mom decided to abort her second son

"I Was Only One, And We Weren't Prepared For One" which means they didn't want another kid.

"Oh Start Saving Green And Before Breathing"
This about saving money for the abortion (before breathing is a reference to still being in the womb)

"I've Been Watching, Rose Give In To It, Severing The Ties Between Mother And Son"
This is as clear as it gets

"Now Things Look Lovely, Lonely Boy, It's Midnight And I'll Deny"
The character, being an only child, wishes he had a brother.

"Oh, I Once Saw Many Place The End"
A reference to anyone he had seen get an abortion.

Well there you have it, this song was actually pretty straightforward compared to some others.

no abortion... | Reviewer: aime | 1/26/09

this song is not about abortion, so just shut up if you don't know anything about the band..
this song has deeper meaning in its lyrics...
you just can't say that it's abortion because of the line "severing the ties between mother and son"... this line talks about being away from something important, since it's coupled with "rose give in to it"... rose petals fall from the flower itself, and it's like the rose has no beauty anymore... not some abortion shit!!!
get it???
anyways, i've been trying to figure out what the other lines mean... only anthony and God knows what saosin's songs mean...

disagree | Reviewer: max francois | 1/9/09

this song IS NOT about any anthony's struggle-shit. translating the name and seven years was the two first songs anthony sang on for saosin, and he recorded over two instrumentals before he was even in the band. my opinion is that this song is about abortion.

it has been said that this song is about anthony's struggle with Saosin in being homesick and all yet he didn't clarify that with his bandmates until after recording then left the band before or during the warped tour and story of the years singer took over for the rest of the tour which i was so disappointed to see. Anthony then formed circa survive but personally i like old saosin better than new and circa survive

JUST SO Y'ALL PEOPLE KNOW, ANTHONY GREEN STARTED A NEW BAND CALLED circa survive AND IT IS AWESOME!!!!

back to saosin....
But honestly, i don't really understand the meaning of this song, very confusing. The drummer kicks ass, the vocals, insane with his accent and the guitars pawn all! they have such good chemistry and lyrics it's like their the ultimate band. I find Cove (the new lead singer) is okay, i mean, compared to Anthony, he's fine. His lyrics are pretty simple, not much mystery behind them but still good.

Anyway, i don't understand the meaning of this song so if anyone does, please let the world know!

omg | Reviewer: bethzabeth | 12/29/07

This band is beyond amazing... so sad to know anthony is not in anymore... seriously they can cause an orgasm just by listening... all their songs are great... they are freaking gods if u ask me... everything is mouth dropping their lyrics, voices, the band playing ect... just go buy the cd seriously I could keep going on how great they are but u should listen to it for urself...

This album and this band was so completely and absolutely amazing. The writing and anthony green play like this is also so astonishing. And its so crazy how anthony pronounces certain words, it sounds so cool, but its weird how the new singer(cove) does that same thing, to bad anthony doesn't still sound like this.

AWZUUMMMM | Reviewer: Rob | 10/2/07

"...keep your heart small, nothing is forever..." - Saosin

his voice is so clear and the drummer is boss

AMAZING | Reviewer: Tim Ryssemus | 9/17/04

This album rocks! Only buy it if you're ready to have your socks rocked off, because saosin will do that and more. Your ears will be lost between trying to listen to the awesome guitar riffs, soaring vocals and the the chaotic screaming. From the beginning to the end this album delivers none stop excellence.
