From the first time you meet Todd Agnew, you'll realize
that he's a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy.
And his manner of speech will certainly reflect his
sartorial taste: direct, straightforward, to the point.
It's when you get to his music that you will find the
complexities that inhabit Todd's life. His debut album for
Ardent Records, Grace Like Rain, is a dizzying array of
musical styles, none of which seem out of place and all of
which help serve Todd's dual purpose as a communicator,
horizontally reaching out to a young generation looking for
inspiration and vertically reaching out to the Creator who
provides that inspiration.
Grace Like Rain melds rock, blues, soul and gospel in an
unabashed attempt to not only capture as many ears as

Review about Todd Agnew Right on the Mark | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
I think Li had it right on the mark. Todd Agnew is a great musician, and the 'imperfections' that some people are critiquing seem to be done to drive the focus on the heart of the song...Jesus is not the image on a postcard or even in some well-meaning churches.
How many of you have ever seen a homeless person at an intersection and quickly locked your car door, or looked away from someone stuck on the side of the road in a car without stopping, hoping someone else would? God forgive me, but I know I have. This song speaks to me and convicts me like no other song that I can think of.
God bless Todd Agnew!

------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
The first time I heard this song, I had to turn off the radio afterward. My mind kept racing over the words and my thoughts cicled: Would my church allow me to sing this song on a Sunday morning? I'm not all that certain.
Some have posted a dislike for the musical quality of this song. If you have listened to Todd Agnew's other music, you would know that he is a great artist. It makes me wonder if he did not intentionally keep the musical accompaniment rough and uneven, in order to force people to pay more attention. It's very easy to get lost in the "pretty" worship songs that are everywhere (I do love worship music). Perhaps he did not want this song to become another casualty of the CCM culture, but to be a song that always grabs attention and always convicts.

This is so true! Too many "christians" today just put on a pretty face for the world! If this song angers you, the Holy Spirit is obviously convicting you! Ask yourself, who do you serve! I thank God for giving Todd Agnew the courage and talent to sing these words!!!
Not too harsh | Reviewer: DH
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
This is a great song. TJ seems to have a completely different definition. Accosted actually means to "confront boldly". This definition is very appropriate to describe the way Jesus dealt with the pharisees.

------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
This song has a wonderful conviction. That is the point of the song. It is a harsh song because of the lyrics but it is only the truth. Christianity isn't sugar coated, there is truth. If every song was "sugar coated" the truth would not be revealed. Like the songs says, I want to be like my Jesus! Great song and lyrics!
Great message, horrible song | Reviewer: Angel
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
I agree with what Votawesome said -- this song has an awesome message, but it gets lost in the horrible songwriting. You can tell that Todd had something big and important to say, but he -- or whoever wrote this -- had no idea how to express it. The music is poorly written, the song itself is poorly written, and a lot of it honestly doesn't even make sense.
At this point in my life I have never heard of Todd....a friend introduced me to his music. I loved his voice instantly. I was used to 'metal' as they say. During my christian walk, I'd say that my musical tastes have changed for sure. All I have to say is this...Todd is real, he is honest...and I thank him for being so. Off of his album Better Questions..I have to say that my favorite song is Funny...at this point in my life anyway. I can totally relate. Timing is everything..and Todd.. God is working through your music...thank you. Please stay close to the Lord and He will use you.. stay real... He has touched me through you...
Good message...but NOT a good song | Reviewer: Votawesome
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
I think the message of this song is, at the least, marginally legitimate. But there is no way that this can be considered a good piece of music. It's just a cluster of ideas sung to some inconsistent rhythm and obscurely definable melody. How did this make it to radio stations? I agree with the message, but it's a painful piece of music for which to listen.
Great song...so right. | Reviewer: Cris
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
This song is so right. We try to be like everyone else in the world except for the one that we should be like, Jesus. Its true that he walked with liars and sluts and thieves, because they were the ones who needed him most. At least thats what I believe. This song is really good and speaks truth.
Unlike most others | Reviewer: Edward
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
My mother always listens to christian radio and i have to admit that i don't prefer many of the songs that they play. But once i heard this song, i immediately realized it was more 'negative' than most. The tone is very emotionaly and almost angry, which seperated this song from most other praise and worship songs. 'My Jesus will never be accepted in my church, the blood and dirt on his feet might stain the carpet' is the kind of ironic sarcastic tone that draws me to this song. Todd Agnew goes far enough to say that he 'spent his time with thieves, and sluts, and liars'. I think it's great that Todd Agnew finally captured the real Jesus that most people don't know.

------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
I heard this song for the first time this morning on XM. I readily admit I love the message. I remembered, while listening to it, a quote one of the members of Stryper (my fav Christian metal band) made during a radio interview in the mid 80's. He said, "Christians aren't supposed to be wimps." That is very true. We are to be unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As I listened more to the song, I was troubled by the repeated use of the word "accosted." Webster's II Dictionary defines "accost" in this way: "to approach and address (another) in a hostile or agressive manner." Other than when Jesus cleared the moneychangers from the temple, I do not recall a "hostile or aggressive manner" he used. In my opinion, to say He accosted others makes him sound like a mean, unloving, almost tyrannical person. Is that the kind of God we serve?
I am a 32 year old song leader at my church and I struggled for a long time with how to bring a better, more up to date song service on sunday mornings, when I saw an interview with Todd. He spoke about singing with feeling and not just out of habbit, and that it is okay to change the arrangement or even some of the melodys. So I prayed one saturday night called all the musicians in early that sundy and simply told them "We need to wake people up". The following sunday we had a set of songs worked out that ranged in style from rock and blues to country folk, and it was a wonderful worship experiance for all of us!! Todd is a great man of GOD and I hope to meet him someday.
KEEP ROCKIN' T.A.!!!!!!!!!

Putting Christ on display for the world! | Reviewer: David
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
It's true that we as Christians are supposed to be putting Christ on display for the world to see Him through our lives. So often though we go through our daily routines looking just like the world around us. I am ALWAYS deeply moved by this song because it causes me to look at my own life and ask myself the question,"Why do I look so much like the world?". This song is among my very favorites simply because it steps on my toes and helps me to actually grow.
NOT CONFORMED BUT CONSECRATED! | Reviewer: Rich Golden
------ About the song My Jesus performed by Todd Agnew
The lyrics to "My Jesus" are rare in this day of Christian music that is sold out to the secular marketplace. Keith Green would be pleased with this song even if he did go home with the Lord 25 years ago but the passion continues through Todd. Keith's friend Steve Camp is another likeminded musician who would find a kindred spirit with such set apart words uncommon to the 21st century CCM playlist fodder. It's sold out to Christ, not sold out to tickle ears or be friendly to the world.
