Toad The Wet Sprocket Lyrics

So named in honor of a sketch by the Monty Python comedy
troupe, Toad the Wet Sprocket's mellow, melodic folk-pop
sound made them one of the most successful alternative rock
bands of the early 1990s. Singer Glen Phillips, guitarist
Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning (the nephew of '50s
hitmaker Mark "Teen Angel" Dinning) and drummer Randy Guss
formed the group in 1986 in their native Santa Barbara,
California. After honing their skills in area bars, they
entered a nearby studio in 1988 and recorded their debut
LP, Bread and Circus, More...

------ About the song Fly From Heaven performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

The song is from the perspective of JESU'S brother James who feels that Paul cheaply sold CHRISTINIANITY by emphasising faith over deeds. Indeed, Paul writes extensively about the deep meaning of Cristinianity and Jesus mission as if he lived with Jesus or GOD personally explained to him the place of Jesus in the scheme of things. The singer alluded to this when he says "he walks like he is GODS own messenger". In as far as twisting the fundamental message of the gospel is concerned the singer croons "change the name of my brother/ change the things that he said". TO CONCLUDE the song is basically about PAULS MISAPPROPRIATION OF THE JESUS MESSAGES.

LOVE Toad...love that they're touring - and I'm seeing them Friday! WOOT!

I love this tune...reminds me to be patient and keep your focus on what's important...learn from the past, look to the future.

------ About the song All I Want performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

This song is one of the best songs from the 90's decade. And I agree with the other person who wrote before me-what's not to love about the song?

------ About the song All I Want performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

I fell in love with this song when I first heard it back in the eighties while driving around Seattle, WA looking for a job.
Everything about it is just amazing. Jangling guitars. Surprising start (just drums and voice). Killer harmonies. You don't like that? You don't have a pulse!
This website on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired.
Where the hell ARE THE GOD DAMNED LYRICS?

------ About the song Way Away performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

I listened to the song for a few weeks straight (among others from Bread & Circus and Coil) and I could not make out many of the lyrics.

Then I read them today and this completely goes against what I thought was a pleasant little travelling melody.

Still an amazing song.

------ About the song Windmills performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

Being this song is the last in the SoundTrack to the film "Latter Days" makes it ALL the more reason to such a hit. There couldn't be a better song to describe movie's overall theme of this well written and directed love story!

------ About the song Brother performed by Toad The Wet Sprocket

My son died suddenly last August and I couldn't arrange a service for him so his step brother made a Power Point presentation of his life, with "Brother" playing in the background. That song was suggested to him by another friend who had lost her brother. Toad TWS touches more lives than you can ever know and it's the most beautiful heartfelt arrangement I've ever heard of any song. Thanks
