Time After Time Lyrics - Cyndi Lauper

Review The Song (13)

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcase of memories,
Time after

Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you said
Then you say go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I will be waiting
Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows you're wondering
If I'm OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
Time after time

You say go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time

Time after time
Time after time
Time after time

This song made me realise that it doesn't have to be war when you lose an ex that you love. That even though it hurts. It may very well benefit both you and tthe other if you just try to care about one another. Even when it's still hard.

Poetically Hypnotic | Reviewer: Vincent Clarke | 8/29/12

I'm a hardcore Hip Hop loving fanatic, but this song always seems to play the strings of my emotions like an angelic harp. It's the perfect combination of the perfect poetic words, harmoniously blended with the perfect music which matches the subject matter perfectly. (lol)

The difference between a "hit" and a "classic", is that a "hit" will only be relevant for the short rise and fall of it's era and momentous glory. However, a "classic" will stand the test of time and be a hit forever. "Classics" somehow remain to be relevant no matter how much time passes, and they evoke similar emotions of joy or sadness from generation to generation. The funny thing is that, I don't believe anybody attempts to write a classic on purpose even though they are hoping what they are writing becomes one. The writers of classics simply intend to write a "hit" because they are living in the moment and can't possibly know what the future holds or what will be "hot" 20 or 30 years from now. However, in their deliberate attempt to write that hit, they unintentionally make a classic. In actuality, song writers probably hope everything they write will be a hit and a classic. (lol)

Just like John Lennon's "Imagine" or Gloria Gaynor's, I Will Survive", or Michael Jackson’s whole "Thriller" album... this song joins the list of the few timeless masterpieces. Thank you, Cyndi, for giving us a piece of your soul that we can cherish forever.

I use to be a very emotional somebody and i ve lived and grown with this nice artistic work by Cyndi Lauper..But now am fighting heartbreak, trying to hold back a lost love.I fall heels over stone but 'time after time' is and will always be the best companion.I hope if she falls, she will look and she will find me..But till then! TIME AFTER TIME

Pure Art | Reviewer: David | 2/12/12

This is undoubtedly the pinnacle of artistic expression. If Vincent van Gogh had been a songwriter instead of a painter, this is a song in which he would have taken most pride. It's a song of artistry of composition and of vision.

Time after time was, is, and will always be one of my best songs. There are times when I listen to the song and I'd play it over and over again. The sound of this track and Cyndi Lauper's voice made it a great song. Thank you Cyndi.

My review | Reviewer: River | 7/8/10

Cyndi Lauper did an amazing job on this track . This song makes me cry every time I listen to it because it reminds me of me and my mother's strained relationship. I keep telling her that when she needs me, I'll be there time after time. I am quite young so I wasn't born when the song was popular. Even though I am 17, I Still prefer Time after Time and any other 80's songs besides the repulsive songs that people listen these days.

Timeless | Reviewer: Steve Borrow | 7/5/08

The great Jazz genius, Miles Davis, was fascinated by this hypnotic rhapsody. Did Cyndi just get lucky? Well, she was (is) no one-hit-wonder. Her voice back in the 80s when she became famous, had a vulnerable, child like quality, emanating from doll-like facial features: a kind of innocence and sensuality fused with a teenage rebelliousness is the best way I could explain it. I was fascinated by her then, and remain so and would include Time After Time among any list of the best pop tunes composed. And hey, who would dare disagree with Miles?

Driving home tonight, I was enjoying this song for the umteenth dozen time, and was reminded of what a great performer Cyndi is.

At about her age, I too have been enjoying her work for many years.

A GREAT song.

Thanks!

Mike.
